From this months RIDE,

1. Motrax Vishas £30 9/10 (Ride - Best buy)

Tough, well-designed lock that comes with a carry pouch. Lasted 3 minutes of attack testing.

I've just bought the Motrax Vishas disc lock after reading the review in RIDE. The pin won't go through the smaller holes on my disc so sort of hangs on the disc through a larger hole, but it seems to be OK. I don't know what bike you've got but I did read that this lock doesn't fit Bandits .

I remember reading in Ride about a year or so ago, that Homebase/Halfrauds or somewhere did a round padlock (might have been a Yale) for under a tenner. Worked just as well as a disc lock but at a fraction of the cost.

Not worth spending the Earth on one - if some theiving scum wanted your bike they wouldn't worry too much about disc locks - just lift the bike and bung it in a van.

I've got one of those £20 Disc Doctor thingies - only used for short stints when I'm away from my bike in town or similar - wouldn't rely on it as the only form of security.

i picked up an oxford monster disk lock a while back from a website called gear 4 bikers or something like that, cost about £20 i think (it was about half the price of the rrp) iv never had any problems with it, i think it lasted about 4 or 5 minutes on attack testing and you get your own black zip up bag for it which has its own lock lube in it too, if your after a chain they do the oxford monster in there for about half the price of the rrp too, corse if you want something more secure, get both of them plus a steel shed with walls 20 meters thick with its own infra red security system.... 'Ride' are offering the Motrax lock free with their subscription. The lock costs £30, subscription was only a few quid more. I subscribed! This was only a few weeks ago so I suspect it may still be running.

The lock is well solid, but the mechanism doesn't have that quality feel.

For £30 though, I'd still probably buy one if I was shopping for a disk lock.

Nice one peeps. My scooter's getting locked up for the winter, I've got a big chain, a Kryptonite D-Lock and fancy a good Disc Lock to put scum off, too. Won't save my plastic panels, though...
