hey ho, out on a ride to the local harley world today and heading down a loverly lane i shot off from my mate. didnt rev the bike high or anything but as i took a lefthander the bike spluttered and dug down on the forks. Then let accelrate again, 10 yards further the revs die and the engine cuts.

Tried to re fire but nothing. Pushed to the next lay by and my mate pulled up, we got her fired but only with the revs held on, set off to get to harley world,

She locked up, cut out, spat the rearwheel out and nearly had me off, i fund nuetral and free wheeled down to a pull in.

Sent my friend off to meet an experienced rider we know at harley and bring him back to have a look over.

now at this point i tried to gather things and felt the engine was very very hot! The starter runs over but the bike doesnt fire. I locked her and headed up to the local farmhouse.

I was met with 2 scary charachters, one of which kept toutching my shoulder! very scary, i used their phone and left.

By this time my buddski's had come back and vince looked it over. He rekons the engines fine, maybe smething electrical.

Cmc chesterfield picked it up and will look over it tomorrow. I hope its something small.

For all you techno buffs, heres the syptoms;

*all lights work.
*Starter motor kicks up but no fire
*Engine was very very hot even after 40mins of shade
*after trying starter a number of time the starter just clicked and nothing happend.

That would be a flat battery (not enough to turn engine over)

Sounds like a textbook case of Harleyitis, ya don't even need a Harley to suffer from it... just park next to one for a while. It's related to the IQ fade ya get while standing near Harley riders... Thats how Harley manage to sell their bikes, the second you walk in the HD dealership you start getting dumber, if ya spend enough time hanging out with the Chromo-Sexuals you end up so fucking stupid you not only buy a Harley, but you also think it was a good idea...

hahaha, ye its got a full tank of petrol, oil changed last month, new plugs all the usual service crap.

Its rode like a star to scarborugh and tracked up nearly 100miles tuesday, then this.

Luckily i now know that CMC picked the bike up so i know shes safe. Just my wallet aint!

wasnt sure on the flat bat as all the lights work, but it might be something to do with loss of power. As my friend thought, maybe the coil or HT leads?

No coolant overheat -> seizure? Only lack of coolant or oil would make it get really hot.

When you twizzled the starter, did it engage and turn the engine over, or did it just sit there and do nothing? If the engine doesn't turn over in neutral, you've got an engine seizure.

i dont know, cmc called me about 3 hours back and comfiremd it was bolloxed, (duh!) but they dont handle hyosung. so its cost me £40 for a mechanic to go, "hmm, it dont work!" and they are delivering it back to my house on sat morning,

good news is that startright of leeds, a hyosung dealer have agreed to pick it up and do the work on sat afternoon, they rekon that as they have little work on at the moment i should be running by tuesday.

just hope the wallet stays intact,

is there anyway i can make sure they dont charge me for repairing parts that dont need doing?

I hate to be negative after the event, but letting CMC get their mitts on it for mechanical stuff is the number one way to get ripped off something chronic. Thumbs Down £50 an hour in labour I got a quote for, for a CG125. Laughing

Getting them to tell you (write down and sign) exactly what is wrong with it, what they want to replace, what they will charge for replacing those parts, before you agree to anything will help stop them ripping you off. Of course, it'd probably delay getting it fixed.

because it isnt a model they have any knowledge of, they are dropping off the bike at my house tomorow morning, £40 all together of the recovery, the check over and returning.

so not to bad, unfortunately they rekon its something nasty in the engine and startright leeds will know more.

Im really worried this is going to cost me dear and as a poor young lad with fuck all in the bank a new engine will cripple me for a year! I might bite the bullet to get her running then try and sort the test on borrowed money then take suzuki up on the 0% finance deal and buy a bandit or SV650
