WOW I want one. also i belive a while ago some on posted a ebay product that looked just like kaneda's bike i was wondering if any one can find the images or the item again cause i cant.

Its a suzuki (i think) STRIDER

If they build it it will probably only come out in japan, its "unashamedly inspided by anime" (and the only thing like it is kanedas bike) they would sell several thousand just on the akira lookalike value!

Watching akira @11 or so, kanedas bike was one of the things that turned the "got to have a bike" switch on in my head..


Ive seen one or two "replicas" a couple actually run! but not very well... one was even based on a cx engine and had two chains which eventually drive the rear wheel..

The idea of how it works is a combustion engine as a generator (behind the seat i think) and two electric engines on the front and rear wheel...

I'd like something similar, closest thing on the road is the yamaha T-Max

Considering the comic started in 84 or so, its a pretty feckin amazeing looking bike

(Slightly unbike related but)

If you get the chance to read the comic of akira (4volumes, 2000 pages!) Then DO, its so much more detailed, storys is totaly different really, the film finishes where the 2n'd book ends!

Anyone who liked akira have a look at memories, (search memories otomo on torrent reactor.net) otomo was the overall producer and its bloody ace... steam boy he did recently too, not seen that yet though..
