Will be shortly purchasing a K5 750 Gixer, as soon as it's run in i shall be fitting a race can (Yoshi) and a K&N filter.
I'm not fitting them for any increase in power, but just for the noise and free revving characteristics.
My question is: Will i need to alter the fuelling, and if so, how???
My current SRAD is carbed, and so when i got a race can and filter for it i had it rejetted to suit.
How do you do this for an injection model, or is it not necessary to adjust the fuelling? ____________________ Space Monkey #7

Yep. Power Commander is the way to go. dont get one from a shop. Go onto ebay. There is a guy on there who sells loads of them and will even load up the appropriate map for your bike/can/filter. the guy is Barrys Motorcycle Emporium

Thats how I got mine for the R6 and when I had it on a dyno the map he loaded was so close it made no difference. |

Is the power commander really needed? I thought that was more for power gains, but i could be wrong.
As i said, 148bhp is enough for me, i just like the noise of a race can, and it's revvyness(is that a word?). ____________________ Space Monkey #7

Hi
An AFM will not really compensate for a race can (and most bikes seem to just use mapped systems). To compensate they need to have a lambda probe to feed back the exhaust gas content and adjust the mixture. Not many bikes have them (and even if they do if you go too far from standard it will just decide the lambda probe is screwed and ignore it).
I think that some Suzukis can have the fueling altered by reprogramming the ECU without the need for lobbing a Power Commander on there.
Get it wrong and you will have a quite horrible power curve. The Bandit was dynoed on Wednesday twice, once with the road baffle in the Akrapovic and once without. Peak power difference was only 7hp (5%, which surprised me) and about double that 1000rpm further down the scale. The fueling is pretty close without the baffle, but with the road baffle it is so rich it is off the scale at 6000rpm, also at 4500rpm and pretty much anything below 4000rpm.
All the best

Just brought a Micron for a CBR600 F4i.
Trying to now decide weather or not to buy a PC. Spose running the bike for a month without one wont hurt it untill i get paid again. ____________________ Passed My Test 15/03/05
