Right found a possibility for my next bike.

Its a GS500e and has been stored (just over the road!) for the last 2 years.

I'll try to break down its qualities:

GS500e
Factory fitted fairing (original suzuki)
N reg
8500 miles
2 lady owners
Mint condition
Never been in a riding school

Nexxus full system (plus original)
Heated grips
Carbon fibre yoke protector
Raised bars
Tarty bar ends

How much would you say it was worth? Are they good bike to ride?

I will be using it to commute the school (6 miles a day) and to generally ride. This will be a jump straight from my 50.

Nick

Difficult to price a vehicle like that. It is an older bike but it has done nothing.

It will need a good service if it has sat about. Bear this in mind with your budgeting.

They are a basic, budget 500 twin, with neutral handling and power delivery. Basically an ideal introduction to ''bigger bikes". The build quality (especially corrosion resistance) is not as good as some of the other brands but this should be reflected in the price.

In short, I think from your description that you have found a little gem that would be ideal for what you want. It will feel like a rocket-ship if you are coming from a moped. A very good commuter bike which you could tour the country in reasonable comfort on if you wanted

The mileage is what you would expect from a two year old bike.

I would offer a cheeky 800 but be prepared to go up to 1200 providing it really is mint, with two god tyres, a good chain etc. As I say, it is difficult to put a price on a bike of that age with such a low mileage.

For a rough guide, I paid 1400 fo my M reg KLE500 with 6,500 miles on it from a dealer. Bear in mind that a KLE is a more complex machine than the GS and would have been more expensive new

I'd agree with the £800 mark, but I'd be tempted to hunt down a good nick GPZ for a similar age/price. Seem to be a slightly better bike in my opinon.

Would the budget extend to an original SV650 (£1800ish); better/more fun bike with a longer appeal time.

Forgot to mention,

Brand new tyres, brake pads and chain.

Probably will go for it, as it is so local. Although it is a ugly bike/color.

I'll post pics if i get it.

(btw, my budget is max. 1200)

Stay away from the GS500, the GPZ is a much better bike for that sort of budget.

The GS500 are built poorly in comparison to the kawasaki's and seem to drop to bits quickly. However I know the engine is very strong on the GS500 which is a good plus.

But the GPZ is 15hp more than a GS much better built and has a lovely 7K kick.

Looks like i'm going to buy it. £900 was offered and excepted.

The only problem is that they dont know where the v5 is, but im sure that it will be sorted.

I am not usually a spelling Nazi, people flame you because 'what does it matter anyway'.

Your misspelling in this case though, has made the word mean the exact opposite to your intention.

Accepted: To receive (something offered), especially with gladness or approval.

Excepted: To leave out; exclude
