hazard perception - making money or better drivers?

the logistics of the test is crap but the idea behind it is good! they need to think of a better way of assessing perception, but as it stands i think it is a bit of a pointless exercise that fails a lot of compitent drivers/riders and makes money for the DSA by them failing, but even with going through the process you are having to think in a way to consider "is that car going to pull out on me!"

Its a computer game, and not a very good one.

The hazard perception test bears no relation to reality,where you mostly react to hazards subconciuosly anyway.

For us kids its mostly ok, its a computer game and we play them all the time. As I understand it proves much more of a problem for adults that haven't grown up playing computer games, the instructions are hardly comprehensive.

the dvd is total crap mate ,don't worry the real thing is not as hard to score on !
I sent the dvd back to them saying its not working properly (scoring is pure luck ) got a full refund !

It's about making money otherwise the hazzard test would free once you'd booked the practical.

You'd think that all these money making extras would bring our insurance premiums down (providing you'd sat them).

Its not over yet, even when you do pass your practical you have to send money off with your pass cert to get your photocard and crap...oh and that fee is set for anytime you need to send it back for ANY reason, like when i send mine back to have the 33BHP thing removeing.

The hazard perception is a load of ballocks. I know I spotted every hazard and clicked for every hazard in good time and every time something changed. I didn't miss a single one, and saw them all in good time. I scraped through by one mark. I'd been riding a little over a year at that point, and the hazards were almost all painfully obvious and impossible to miss.

Yet I only just passed?

When I was taking driving lessons (car) my instructor would tell me I had excellent hazard perception and observation. Yet when I did the practice tests my score wasn't good at all. The test is just f**ked up to be honest. I think the should just talk to your instructor or the person that tests you to judge your hazard perception.

lol, When I was sat waiting for my practical, two car instructor were talking to each other about this "new" hazard perception test and how they never had to do it in "their day". Anyways, one of the instructors explained to the other that the hazard perception was absolute rubbish and he'd scored zero throuhgout the whole test as he'd spotted hazzards before they developed (which coincidently was before the software allowed you to recognise and respond).

He claimed that the best way through it was to "click" a happy birthday tune, and dont click no more than 20 times... he said it worked everytime.

To be honnest, I found the hazard perception test to be really easy and ended up losing only 1 mark... possibly hit the mouse before it allowed me to score against it... I dont recommend "clicking" a tune as i was informed that the software was "clever" and would recognise if you were trying to cheat (I'm not sure whether to believe this but i'd rather than failing it...).

But yeh, its all about making money... and hitting those targets, psstt...
