I have just viewed this bike at a local bike shop. It is 04 reg and will be immaculate with a bit of polish.

Sounds nice on start up. Love the twin exhaust...

Im just wondering whether the price of £1300 is good. I cant find any reviews on this bike.

Can anyone give me their views on this bike?

Thanks, Jon Smile

Hi

Don't think they have been officially imported for about 15 years. Not a bad bike but not that quick, and you will need to rev it harder than the NSR to get any go.

All the best

Keith

Go for a good condition 80's model and save £1000 (plus a healthy amount off your premium). I had a CM125C, which used the same engine (14.8bhp). Was a nice bike to learn on and smoother/marginally quicker than the singles found in CGs.

You sure it is a CB125 T? They were made some time ago (like mine was 1977). You sure it isn't a TDC (I think they still say CB125T on the side)?

The T was a complete rocket for a 125. Genuine 85mph, free-revving, decent handling. The TDC was made as a learner legal bike, a bit heavier, expect no more from it than you would get from say the CBR125. Definately better than a CG though.

That said, they are a bit different, I have had a couple of them and they go well. You can run them all day long with no bother.

Having looked, it seems the japs were making a version of it fairly recently. You will recognise this one because it has solid cast wheels, the UK ones had comstar wheels.

Don't get attached to the exhaust, it will be a pile of rust within the year and cleaning doesn't help, they rust from the inside. People usually replace them with a motad 2-1 system.

Parts are available for sweeties from David Silvers (eg piston kit 15 quid, gasket set for a tenner)

Yes, then its the TDC model.

But shouldnt it have that wrote on the side.

Surely this will alter the insurance.

Nightmare if you ask me.

EVERY insurance company are having difficulty even finding it on their systems.

Crying or Very sad just when i thought id found my dream bike

I think the very late UK ones did have the 3 spoke cast wheels, but not many of them.

All the best

Don't think they ever had it on the side, but probably just on the frame plate.

All the best

Their problem is that the database wont show them as an '04 registration since they stopped doing them for the UK market in 1988. Must be either a Grey import or one that has been sat in a box in a warehouse for years.

They are on the databases because honda sold them by the bucketload back in the day.

I recently gave two old ones away, you can buy a non-runner for less than 100 quid.

If you really like themk. Some people are doing them up as classics. The really early ones hhad 16bhp and pulled like a train (faster than the CB250 from the same year). You would probably get a really nicely restored one for a grand or a tidy runner for 500 quid.

There is one on ebay now. It needs new exhausts from the picture. Sat at 155 quid. It is a 1982 bike, this is the year that they dropped them to 12bhp so it could still be one of the fast ones. You could buy it and spend another 500 quid to give you a tidy, classic 125.

Hi

Trouble with the older ones is that this can hapen Embarassed .

That one on ebay is a later shape one so will be 12hp. Fairly certain that they dropped to 12hp at the same time as they fitted an electric start and restyled them. The older 16hp ones also had one of Hondas sick jokes, a cable operated from disk brake.

All the best

Keith

Back in 1978 i had an air cooled rd125 twin and i used to regularly race this bloke that had a 125t. First time i raced him i thought it would be a walkover just like racing a cg 125. I was wrong i just couldnt shake him off and top whack i had to lie down on the tank or he would have taken me. Mad . I was so ashamed i had the engine tuned, micron pipes, etc. I pissed all over him then but he still had the last laugh 2 months later. We were racing flat out 11,500rpm 88mph and the crank went bang. Crying or Very sad So for an old 4 stroke they are a very good and surprisingly fast bike.
