I'm a bit hesitant about posting this, as I'm sure there must have been something similar posted before (I know the colour of bikes has been discussed before), but I can't find anything. So I'm going to post it anyway as I need some opinions, and wait for the smart arses to post up the links to previous forums! Laughing

I currently wear a textile jacket (it’s black, grey and blue) but have been trying to buy a leather jacket to go with my black leather trousers. Unfortunately, those I've tried on haven't been quite right for one reason or another. Sad

I've now found one which fits well, is flattering and looks good – the only trouble is the colour. It’s actually black with dark grey panels, but really looks black all over. Now, I wasn't intending to go for a black jacket because I thought it would be better to get something with a bit of colour in and contrast in order to be seen. My bike is silver and my lid is dark silver, so black leathers would be one of the best colours to go with everything. I don’t want to wear a Sam Browne belt or vest and most of my riding will be done in daylight anyway. There are a lot of bikers who wear all black leathers. Do you think the visibility of the colour you're wearing matters that much as long as you ride defensively?

Black is the new black. You know you want to.

I doubt the differing colours would make much if any difference at night, and during the day, there's a great big bike to see. IMO, ride defensively during the day and you won't have a problem. If you do feel strongly about being seen at night, then wear a Sam Browne belt at night only, when no-one can recognise you. Wink

The people who pull out on bikes because they don't see them aren't looking properly. They would pull out even if you wear a day-glo orange gimp suit.

^^true. Although it doesn't help when we're doing 10mph over the limit and wearing dark colours. Wink

Black goes with anything, why the need to change your jacket?

I used to wear a blue and white Alpinestars Dyno jacket - went fine with dark coloured jeans (especially black).

I don't need to change my jacket - I just want to get a leather one.

So visibility isn't really an issue!

I always ride with my lights on. Thanks for all your comments. I'm kind of thinking wearing all black will be OK from what you've said.

By the way, smart bike, Miraclefish!

most car drivers dont have a problem with seeing you no matter what colour your wearing most just choose to ignore you any way, choose whatever colour you feel comfortable in to suit you bike ,the idea of riding your bike is for you to get the enjoyment out of it ,not some colourblind inconsiderate prick who wouldnt see you if you had a bluddy great neon arrow pointing at you flashing " FREE MONEY" enjoy yourself and just make allowances for non riders

I wear all black (with gold bits) leathers on a black bike... BUT, my jacket does have a reflective panel in the back. Has the jacket you are looking at got any reflective sections, some have piping or stitching that will stand out in headlights.

Get some pink leathers if you're proud of having no penis, if not i'd go for a mix of black/white/silver. Kinda universal colours.

Girls on bikes strangely kinda turn me on. Laughing

Thanks to everyone who has posted a reply.

I have now bought the jacket in question so if you're in the Brighton area and a silver ZZR goes by, with headlight on, ridden by a female wearing (virtually) all black leathers and boots, with a dark silver helmet and no reflective belt, it'll be me, and I hope you see me!! Laughing
