Right ladies and gentlemen,

Me and a good mate have been discussing going halfs on a track bike for a long time,

we are going on a trip today up to the great smokey mountins but on the way where hitting some dealers in south carolina and tennessee. 3 dealers 4 bikes all been in a low speed drop all ridable. our budget joined is 4,000 includeing the work needed to get it done, now engine size is 750cc as my suzuki engine is still mint and low miles and running *hopefully* and a has to be a suzuki for parts etc.

They are all 2000-2001 suzuki gsxr 750's, i know what to look out for damage wise.

But one sounds really good its a 2001 and its already got race fairings obvioulsy the no head light guise? and a slipperclutch, its got a Full Race System it has also had a Stage 2 tune up kit added(what's in this tune up parts etc?), Yoshimura Performances Cams, and upgraded Fuel Injection( ?? ) The bike has about 138 Horsepower to the wheel according to the last Dyno that was performed on it and according to the team that used it they want 2500 WOW,

Gonna check that one out last as its in SC and we will be going back the long way. Im not bothered about the HP thats summit that can come later. its also the yellow paint scheme Sad.

What you guys think does this sound like a good track project.

Can you answer what is in the stage 2 kit and what the hell is upgraded fuel injection??

We got access to a trailer from my dads work and a pick up to tow with its just a case of being ready?? also my old mans thinking on a bike Very Happy

thx for reading another long boring post by me

Does it need to be so new?. I'm looking at something along the lines of a TL1000R for a track bike.

The garage that uses it lol,

its a private garage 8 people work there type of set up, him and his son built it and had it was finished by them but they build bikes to spec for people so it has to be done tidy. there garage is called summit like Millers Custom Bike's cant remember it all dont even think thats it. I cant find the email now i printed it off with the directions and deleted mesage Doh! . They set it up on there dyno the fueling etc they just want rid of it as its taking up room in there storage. Again im just going by the email.

Sorry cant be much more than that till i see the thing, also what do you mean like the parts used ??

Also Davo my engine i have is from a 2003 so i dont really want a old gixxer and have to modify the fram etc if thats what you have to do ??. a Tl1000 just seems a bit to big for a track bike plus i loved my 750.

*Not a hard place to miss any ways cause its right off the highway and has loads of bike for sale out front*

GSXR750 should make a good track bike.
Stage 2 kit will just be a label used by who ever tuned it. Uprated fuel injection will probably mean that it's been setup for the exhaust system, airbox etc on the bike.

Davo, if you've got an R6, I'd go for an R6 as a track bike - ideal bike for the track in my opinion. I would quite like a 750 for a trackday (not racing) bike, but it's always useful to have interchangeable parts.
(Could do you a deal on an r6 that needs a little work as well Razz Smile )

As G says stage 2 could mean anything from a power commander, cams, slotted sprockets to a full head job. Depends on the tuner.

Uprated fuel injection could just be a power commander, matched injectors, higher displacement injectors, or even a multipoint system.

Get the full specs in writing before you decide and check the engine and frame numbers. To many track bikes are just stolen bikes put on the track with the numbers ground off.

Also thinking of a paint job hmmm might keep the yellow standered one. Or im thinking maybe summit different. Sickpup this bike has been droped at low speeds. They claim to have built the bikes from parts. its on a salvage title with the state of NC so its leagel i will also go over the specs thanx for comment.

This website has amazing do it your self stuff. looking at the whole blue guages thing maybe use the one of my dead 750 to test.

Basicly they got step by step things on how to make your own coloured guages using the stock ones, and gear counters.

It was aimed at Davo.

However if you're already got an R6, I'd be tempted to go that way - as I mentioned, always useful for spares etc.

Another quick question aimed at all my 2003 750 is exactly the same as a 2001 gixxer 750 correct??

looking at pics they look the same. i have an idea as this bike will be for road and track use lol we decided we might as well have it for road use as it will seem a waste of a bike let it sit so we are adding my old head lights to this bike also we're moving the blinky's to the vents in the front.

https://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7089/15tt1.jpg

My baby before the smash

Now i have seen this done before and in the us they can be clear so im thinking of doing an l.e.d set up. and this means we can get rid of the original blinkys.

If im correct you have to put tape on the headlights for a track day am i right ??

We are setting for 3 and leaving by 4 got a few more to tag along so we are gonna make it a camping trip lol the person with the bigger bike takes the equipment Very Happy

G my r6 is new so no track use for it.... yet Very Happy

Awful weather so we had to call the trip off. 40mph winds and really heavy rain and cliff both sides Thumbs Down Thumbs Down turned around half way there. still gonna go see 2 tmrw. the one i mentioned and another one they got for a lower price.

Also looking at older a bikes in the u.s its stupid a 93 gixxer not mint been droped but not claimed is $4000 but i can pick up 2 2001 750's for that.

If your sharing a track bike, make sure you agree with whoever is sharing it with you certain rules etc about who pays how much if the bike gets damaged, where it is stored and who uses it when etc.

Best to have them set out at the start before inputing any money into it, to save on arguments etc in the future Thumbs Up

Put the indicators in the mirrors, you can buy aftermarket mirrors with indicators in off ebay anyway, would save restricting airflow to the carb anyway, which could affect the engine. Good luck on ur project.

Thx jack,

Right leicester_city21 we havce already made all price lists and we are going 50/50 on every thing we need. And a 250 is a no go all the track days we have looked into have like a minimum spec of 400cc from what we have seen. Plus in the usa good luck finding a good 250-500cc bike. newer bikes as in brand new are 600cc smallest here from what i have seen they obviously make 'em but they cost a bit more to be imported.

Right the Bikes we saw today,

The one mentioned above was a hunk of crap lol they couldn't get it started or anything, we tried every thing, they were all like oh you boys gone and flooded her'. to which in the end we said no. they even tried to jump start it.

The second one has been reserved for us its a gixxer 750 in the blue and white paint. and the asking price is 2300 but im not gonna try and talk it down the blue book value for a bad condition is 5,600.

Needs very little work he bought it after a crash and fixed it up needs to get rid of it so he can pay the closing on his house purchase plus he's got a kid on the way. Its sweet not really much needed to make road just blinkys rewiring and a new rear light in tail and the zorst is a bit Sick sounds cack like summit loose inside. We spoke for like an hour and he said here take keys i took it out for about 15 mins and got hooked makes me miss mine so much. its a 2001 with new body panels (off a 2003 donor bike) its miles are 5,894 well they were when when we left Rolling Eyes

This bike will be sweet gotta sort transport out for weekend and we will be laughing, the title is good to go, here unlike a log book you gotta get the bloody thing over looked by a lawyer/bank worker (noterized spelling sucks) which is stupid. its going in my name which i dont mind. you can own a max of 5 viehicles a year with out having to pay dealer tax im on my 3rd with this bike. We will get the plate for monday and i think i might use it instead of my r6 for now its so nice. Will get pics by weekend guys and gals.

p.s i still got my 750 stock exhaust.

SOunds like it'll be a nice bike! can't believe a bike so young is going for a little over £1500, if that! I'd sell it on and make a tidy sum. Just think of what you could reinvest in!
