Rideing allong earlyer following some traffic @40ish, and i see some road debris...

SPANG! something is ripped off the underside of the bike, and something twats my leg (woo for sidi boots, still got the top of my foot though) But it wasn't exactly a great idea to be looking down at whats going on, it was still going there was no weird noises... so i stop when i get chance.

It turns out the faring trim stuff (plastic stuff held on with only by claspy force of the metal inside) was dangleing down slightly, this caught the object in the road riping the trim off the entre lower faring (a bit over a meters worth)

The trim had be cause by a tree rat, it was allready dead, it had no head and had been half skinned by the metal infused doom that was the dangley bit...

Certainly made me twitch, could have easyely wraped itself arround the wheel...

Allways make sure your dangley bits are secure before you go for a ride!

Could of been worse my mate wiped out his zx9r at 80 mph when he hit a dead rabit, his bike had lots of dangly bits when i pulled it out of the hedge.

Actually a mate of mine wrote his bandit off hiting a live rabbit, smashed his wrists totaly and now they are held together with pins, he is lucky to be alive!
(He was awake long enough to see the bunny hop away into the night unharmed)

Same mate has been hit by a crow and a seagul (now that was a grim sight)

Twas my own fault really, if i'd been further back i'd have seen it way before, i was trying to get some distance between between me and the prick in a people carryer behind Rolling Eyes But there you go..

Nearly hit a fox going arround a corner not long ago Shocked

Last week i got hit in the face by a bat after my visor fliping down by itself (ride with it up most of the time) that was surreal...

Must be something attractive about motorcycles to creatures of the night.... would explain some of my ex girlfriends...

Vespa - got followed by one last week in the park.. think they are on to me Shocked Praying Shocked

had my first wasp encounter t'other day. It bounced off my jacket, up into my helmet, at which point i decided to blow on it to "shoo" it away. I then noticed the yellow and black stripes and proceeded to pebbledash my undergarments whilst opening visor/removing helmet/stopping/indicating/turning onto the pavement. Was rather exciting actually...

Driving along at about 100 on the motorway on the way to Alton Towers, I see a bird come along from the right, most likely a sparrow, whack! Hit the windscreen just under the windscreen wiper and gets hooked there. Half in shock and half laughing our asses off, the bird finally lets go (not of life, it died on impact) Razz and rolled up over the back of the car and onto the ground behind us.

Just a fun story! Very Happy

Just remeinded me...

A mates zxr400 starts perfoming badly totaly out of the blue, one minute fine, next minute its running like crap...

On closer observation one of the air scoops is blocked... Its got a sparrow in it, they pull out the dead bird after takeing it all appart... Bike runs 100% again...

Got stung on the face last year, same thing happened with me.. wasps are shit.

Quite, had it been a helmet I would probably have a nice sparrow-shaped dent in my head. Razz

I've had a sparrow hit me in the shoulder at three figure speeds, I probably wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't have been for the cloud of feathers.

Small birds weigh so little, they aren't going to do much damage. It is the wood pigeons that worry me. I reckon one of them would be quite sore at speed.

Try taking a corner at speed with a scared pheasant doing it's best to climb through your visor. Not an experience I ever wish to repeat.

Seagulls feel heavy, specially when they hit you in the left hand whilst going round a corner, causing you to engage the clutch, then drop the clutch again almost instantly Confused

We get allsorts of stuff wandering about the roads.
Buck, donkeys, motherless locals on pushbikes pedaling along the motorway, etc.
I’ve dodged the odd tortoise, a couple of years ago while in Zimbabwe we had to do a quick u-turn to avoid elephants.

Was kinda funny actually, one min im happily riding along, the next, BOOM, feathers everywhere..

Went back to see if it was still alive, and found it in about 10 peices..Sick Was my first propper "road" kill i was so proud! Laughing
