 |
|
Due to my recently found addiction to eBay and my medium term addiction to track days, I found a set of Diamond Tyre Warmers going fairing cheap on eBay over the weekend. Low and behold I won the auction for the decent price of £87 (normally about £150-160).
They turned up today, all looking good. Got home from work and grabbed the front one to plug it in and check it worked.
[stupidity mode on]
I rolled the tyre warmer round like it would be on the tyre, switched it on and went to grab a drink. Ten minutes I return to a dodgy burning smell and the fact that where the tyre warmers met in the middle (i.e. the section normally in contact with the tyre) they had melted together . I turned them off and pulled them apart, but now the cables (that heat up) are exposed and no longer held in place where the surrounding material melted (see picture).
Telling me I'm an idiot is not useful (I've cottoned onto that), but is there any way of fixing it, or is it screwed (I'm suspecting the latter, but you never know)?
