Hello,

I got a little blue book with my training & just asks things like:

Arrow How to check brake fluid.
Arrow How to check the oil.
Arrow Checking tyre pressure & how you know there worn.
Arrow How to change a chain.
Arrow What do you adjust if you carry a pillion.

Just basic stuff like this Smile Thumbs Up

A good first bike depends on you most people on here say, A better bike would have been a 50cc or 125cc but noone wants them. Smile

Good luck.

you never get asked how to change the chain.

you get asked at the beginning either a show me question, or a tell me question

show me how you would check the steering head bearing.
show me how you check the operation of the front / rear brake
show me how you check the operation of the lights (dipped, high, indicators etc)
show me how to check the operation of the horn
show me how the check the front / rear suspension operation

tell me how to check the level of the brake fluid
tell me how to check the oil level
tell me how to check the condiction of the chain
tell me how to check the condition of the tyres
tell me how to check the condition of the rear suspension

I had to answer 2 of these questions doing my DAS but i'm not sure you will have to answer 2 on an A2 test. prolly just 1

questions after test are about pillions or luggage

how will a pillion effect your bike
what adjectments to make to your bike when carrying a pillion
information to give to a pillion before riding
legal requirments of carrying a pillion (thats newly introduced)
how to carry luggage, paniers etc safely

you can never fail on these questions, and answering inncorrectly will only give you a minor mark
however you can fail by clocking up more then 15 minors (i think its that many) so its good to get them right

they are all basic common sense and questions you sohuld know anyway. just be carefuly not to go pulling the dip stick out of your bike to check the oil when he only asked you to tell him how to do it, i saw someone do that before my test hehe.

i've also seen a guy put his bike on the centre stand to show him how to check head bearings, pull too much on the front of the wheel and the bike topple over. how embarassing

good luck with the test mate

How much do all these different tests cost these days?
I passes mine years ago in 1989 for almost no money, and I just found out that my mate has paid £800 for his DAS including bike hire. He doesn't own a bike yet and this fee is from scratch.

I was shocked.. Shocked

Buying my first 4 bikes only cost me £465 if you add them all together ! !

Don't you get a certificate or something ?
Surely the washers have to be fitted by an approved dealer . ?
And I would have thought that they would be accurately measured washers which give exactly the right amount of restriction.
