Okay folks now I know none of us would say we are guilty but this afternoon - Sat' on the M62 north bound from Manchester and at least southbound of Rochdale for 15 plus miles onto the M60 the overhead signs where showing

"BIKERS SAVE RACING FOR THE TRACK"

I passed two accidents one either way 4 hours apart one concerned at least one car that was totalled on all four corners with seven other cars involved.

Now I was in my tranny van and not once did I see or pass one single motorbike but I was passed by at least 57 cars ( I counted ) all doing in excess of at least 20 mph to my 70 mph on my return journey.

So why no signs for these tossers?

Also the suggestion to all other road users is that bikers blast up here which on my daily driving knowledge is not the case.

Can we complain somewhere?

Cos' I shall when I know how.

Don't you believe that death ratios are higher with bikes? It may be discriminatory, but it's called 'playing the odds'. Not entirely due to bike riders, it's also with car observation, but racing on the motorway is more common with bikes than with cars.

Not that they would ever work anyway. Rolling Eyes

My question ain't about the reason it's about the wording did they have the same signs for other traffic around oulton park when there was other racing on the track - how about for the draggers coming back from York (if it's still there).

Stonkin great big sign for Bikers - specific to bikers

Pound to a penny other road users won't know the reason why.

Just that speeding bikers obviously racing on the motorway.

TBH I didn't click. *Shrugs*

They'll always assume bikers will speed and ride dangerously though. It's just something else to put up with.

Just do what I do and ignore it. Smile

Also about that lap of the M60 is there a record kept anywhere?

Has it ever been fully open without a speed reduction for road works somewhere?

Police are arseholes, all of them, thats my opinion now....

I got waved and FLASHED for doing 60 in a 60!!!!!!!!! I was going to meet Wishaykillie some 6 mile from my house, cold tyres, cold engine and took a bend kinda leaned over as you would at 60....and I got that response...

I just threw my hands up in the air to as if to say WOT???? It pissed me off. We're easy targets, thats it. Only ever seen 2 bike accidents in my time of riding and MANY more car accidents.

Loads of signs on the M4 the other week. Only saw two bikes using the motorway as well.

Have never raced a bike on the motorway but have the car.

Would be more productive to have them say keep left except when overtaking.

I quite often see ones telling people not to use their mobile phones, surely that's specific to everyone *except* bikers?

And the 'Don't drink and drive'... we're not driving, are we?

Don't see the problem myself.

It'd be nice if they actually tried to encourage people to take it to the track in other ways - or at least stop clamping down and making it harder for people to run trackdays (noise, etc).

You could try it.

Is about as picky as trying to blag off parking in a bicycle space cos it says 'bicycle' on your tax disc, and that's worked. Smile

i agree with g on this.
its stupid with the amount of things they try and restrict/ban now-adays

they will end up banning biking, including trackdays, and we will all be leather clad fugitives

hmm, that dont sound too bad

Hi

The use of those signs annoys me a bit. They are for important messages, not just for patronising slogans. All that happens is that people will ignore them always, whether they are spouting rubbish or on one of the few occasions when they are useful.

All the best

Keith
