Just wondering why given the amount of other aftermarket/modification bits and bobs there are for bikes, there seem to be almost next to no afermarket wheels apart from (as far as I can tell) the light wieght marchesini wheels.
I always thought aftermarket rims for bikes would be something that could really spin a profit (forgive the pun).

Yes, no? Comments?

Lighter wheels make turning a bike much easier, but all the ones I've seen are very expensive.

Bike wheels are always alloy, so there's very little other manufacturers can do to actually do anything aside from a different style, without jacking up the price shedloads?

Just a theory.

Aftermarket wheels aren't though (carbon, magnesium etc).

Check out some of the prices here (choose wheel type to see prices).

That's what I meant, don't necessarily have to be lightened, just for styling really.

Gonna cost you lots for aftermarket wheels.

Why don't you just change the colour is it's purely for styling purposes?
