Took an unplanned ride today with a pal and done a usual route. Workington - bothel on A595, follwed by A591 to Keswick. Awesome road. Anyway just after lillyhall roundabout Im doing about 135 on the clock (on a private road officer Rolling Eyes ), I'm on gurad for anything thats a danger at this point but arked behind a bush i spot a police car, h shit. Slammed the anchors and tried to act normal, as I got there I saw it was empty! Jesus christ I think I lost two stone! Anyway finished the trip and managed the 26 miles in 14 minutes!

On the way back from my mates house we had a play with his ipac and a GPS bluetooth device. You put the bluetooth in your pocket and the ipac in your bag. t can then measure your max accelleration, max speed, max deceleration, current speed and average speed. So I tried it on the way home, t test the accellleration but mainly to get an idea of sppedo accuracy

Max speed 121.1 (it was 132 on the clock)

Max accell 29.4 sq feet per second
Max decell 22.6 sq feet per second

Quite please with that, the figures are for a CBR6 with an eleven stone rider.

My mate had the following using his ZX6r with a 16st rider

Max speed 102 (indicated 108)
Max accel 22.2
Max deccel 19.4

Cool lil gadget!
Wink

Are you two 33bhp restricted or something? Razz

I tested my bikes speed with a pda-style phone GPS last month on an Autobahn (honest it was!). Came out as 136mph fully loaded, though the speedo reading was way out because of Kph clock and downgearing, think it was indicating something around 145mph.

This wasnt a dedicate flat out test, that just happened to be the fastest speed on the way home from my mates house, about 12 miles. If I had wanted a max speed test I would have went to bass lake bypass again. Last time I tried on there I got 165+ on the clock with revs and room to spare!

The software is called GPSdash for anyone who's interested! If you get it let me know your results and what kind of bike they came from!

GPS Speed readings still aren't completely accurate, as they can misplace your position by upto 5 meters each time they refresh creating potential for a fairly innacurate reading, also depends on how many satellites are tracking you at any one time.

One in the van says my speedo is overeading by about 6-7mph which I'd believe, quite an expensive system though, not sure if a cheap GPS (like pocket PC mods) would be less accurate.

All the best
