Poole Dream Machines bike meet is back with great prizes!

The hugely popular Tuesday evening motorcycle meet “Dream Machines” is back with new title sponsors Condor Ferries. Every Tuesday from the 5th April to 27th September (6pm-10pm) Poole Quay will be home to motorcycle enthusiasts wanting to display their “Dream Machine”. The Quay is closed to all traffic except bikes, with numbers regularly exceeding 1000, and additional reserved space is available at Harbourside Park.

Condor Ferries Dream Machines is a fully marshalled event, with a £1 per bike entry charge. Alternatively you can purchase a season armband (£5) from the Welcome Centre located centrally on the Quay giving entry to all the Tuesday night bike meets in the 2005 season. A percentage of the money collected will go to either nominated charities or local community groups/associations after event costs have been deducted, and these are chosen by the volunteer marshals and Poole Tourism.

Make sure your bike is gleaming as each week a different judge picks their own “Bike of the Night.” The weekly winners will receive a Condor Ferries cross-channel ferry crossing for a motorbike + 2 passengers along with an invite to come back at the end of the season and compete in the “Bike of the Year” competition. The Bike of the Year winner will receive unlimited Condor Ferries travel for a year plus a cash prize.

You won’t find a better location! Join in with the bustling Quay atmosphere with a wide choice of contemporary café bars and traditional pubs to enjoy some refreshments, or if you prefer to eat on the go try some fish and chips from the Quay kiosk.

Poole is located in Dorset.

Hi,

During Uni term-time I went to this meet quite a lot (when I didn't have any work to do). I return on the 12th of September, and as my lessons start at the end of the month, I can make the last 3 Tuesdays.

Give me a PM and I'll meet you down there. I used to go down on my own, as it was convenient, but I have already got to know a few reguars.

See ya 'round, Claud. Thumbs Up

*EDIT* You or anyone else can PM/arrange a meet there. Just say, I don't mind.

I met that guy again about 1 month later at the sea-side. T'was well random. He gave me a razz on his bike. Laughing

I went a couple of times to Poole Quay when it was day time and it was proper packed! Not sure what it'll be like late September though. Hmmm not got much better to do on my Tuesday days, 'till Uni starts again.

To be honest guys, it's totally choccer in the Summer Season but if you don't mind putting the spooks on the "we're on holiday and we aint getting out of the way" ignorant brigade it's a blast. You meet loads of bike minded people and the ride up/down isn't too bad either. Word of caution though; the Speed Camera brigade often sit and wait for you on the outskirts and they're fairly sneaky about it as they've got a new camera which can catch you up to 2 miles away. So, braking when you see them is too late!

Another alternative is the West Bay run - a lot people run down to West Bay of a Sunday afternoon and grab a steakwich and a beer from the little vendor huts. It's very relaxed but they've restricted the coast road from Abbotsbury to Bridport down to 50mph (shame!) Laughing
