Suggest some modifications for this bike - from INDIA!!!

Hi all,

This is my first post here. I live in India, and this is one of the most powerful bikes around here. 180cc, 16.5 bhp. It is called Pulsar 180 v2.1.

I just wanted to know if you can suggest some subtle cosmetic mods for this bike, cause one of my friends told me that it looks kinda like a ducati or moto guzzi naked sportster. I have never seen any, so please tell me if that is so or not.

Let the modifications be such that it doesn't increase the weight of the bike as it is already 139 kg and just 16.5 bhp.

Nope. The only higher bike than this is 225cc, but that makes only 0.5 bhp more. 17bhp.

But, while the 180 costs equivalent of US $1465, this 225 one costs US $1780.

Maybe get some nice anodised red metal bolts etc.
Small (Carbon fibre?) indicators
Iridium Screen
Small mirrors
Anodised red trim on exhaust

Sports exhaust? Not purely cosmetic, but they certainly look good.

As above, anodize anything metal, new screen, maybe an LED rear light, coloured headlight , etc.

I'm sure Hyosung imprt the comet 250 to india, i remember reading articles saying it was the most powerful bike on sale. And that bike looks pretty much nothing like a Ducati, aint a bad looker for what is essentially a honda cg. Check out the hyosung bikes, i'm failr sure they are imported to india, and they look damn fine for a low capacity naked bike.

Thanks mates!

First, do you think a Comet 250 is worth US $4000 compared to these bikes? Anyway, they stopped it now. They only imported around 300 or so bikes.

And, the max enfield we get here is only 500, but I don't really fancy cruisers that much, so...

Welcome to bcf Thumbs Up

From all i know about driveing there (not much) then i'd suggest you get a pair of air horns Thumbs Up

Where abouts are you? (indias a big place!)

Other things might be worth looking for...

Belly pan, imo looks natty and will protect the underside of the bike

If you dont find yourself reaching top speed very often it might be worth altering your gearing? (so that you get better acceleration, you will loose top speed, but if you never reach it then it wont matter..

New grips, you'd besupprised the difference they make!

Different bars, like offroad bars maybe? theses will improve low speed handleing a fair bit..

Main thing, keep it maintained well, the chain and the oil changes e.t.c.

They are direct imports - so duty is too much. Final price of R1 comes to around USD 20,000 and with it we get NO support whatsoever. If a minor but slightly rare part gets broken, you have to wait 3 months to get the bike running again.

I too would go with the suggestions for smaller mirrors and indicators. Belly pan too if you can find one (or cope with fitting a so called 'universal').

You could take the rubber cover off the forks and put those different fork protectors on instead.

A custom paint job maybe?

From my 7 visits to india I definitely recommend the following:

Very loud horn that plays loads of crazy tunes: without one you'll no doubt die from being hit by a cow, bull or car.

Very load exhaust: let people know your coming and hopefully save you from being hit by a cow, bull or car.

Get yourself some very good brakes: They will help you out of scary situations which happen all the time for example a straying cow, a sleeping bull or the 1,000,000 cars trying to kill you
