It holds a light which lights up your numberplate at night.

Having carried out a little investigation, it turns out the the underside of this black box is clear so the light actually does illuminate the plate at night!

I might be wrong, but I was sure you had to, I thought it was something they looked for on an MOT.

Perhaps your plate holder is a non-standard? I dunno, I'll have a quick look at 'the code'.

edit/ I can't find anything that says they are required, so my bad I guess. Rolling Eyes

Find another bike just like yours...run up to it, smash the end bit off with a hammer, inspect it, upon finding out its contents, run over said bike with a large, heavy car, just for good measure

Ive done it to two Yellow GSXR's already Thumbs Up

Sorry guys. you are all wrong.

This is in fact called a R6buffereator.

It was originally designed for the GSXr 600 by the famous Suzuki designer wunghunglo and commisioned by the Suzuki board. Its to avoid the constant damage to the rear caused by the much faster..

thats because the rear light will light it up in the dark. the suzki gsxr has an LED rear light so needs a seperate light to light the plate as LED's are directed light, whereas a filament isnt.
