Recently put some tonk washers under my clip-ons raising them about 20mm cos of severe wrist ache.

Anyhow, it feels much more flickable since doing this but I'm worried there might be a downside to this. Is there?

The flickability is probably due to better riding position.

There will probably be less weight on the front end, but that shouldn't be a big problem on the road.

For maximum maouverability your arms should be parrellel to the road, in this position you have maximum control.
In this position there shouldn't be weight on your wrists except when braking, but there will be more on your back.

Try riding with your arms completey straight and wiggle the bars a bit, then do the same with your arms parrellel to the road and see how it feels.
