hey everyone
im thinking about getting a tattoo around the end of the month and am currently getting ideas here and there so if any of you want you can give me some ideas for tattoos, parts of tattoos and stuff like that then im all ears, the main reason why im asking here is because i want the tattoo to be related to biking (after all its in the family and id rather have a tattoo about bikes than some swirly tribal crap)
so if any of you have tattoos of the sort and want to part with some ideas and the like then im all ears Thumbs Up

Hi,
All I would say is choose carefully, remember it's for life (Unless you decide on painful laser treatment), choose something that will not embarrass you later, don't put a girlfriend's name on it, as your next girl or wife will not be happy.
You do not want to live to regret it when your older, tattoos can look great if you think first.

..Or why not make a complete prick of yourself and get a tatoo that says 'Butt to ride' and be done with it?

i have tattoos, all i can say is remember they are for life... maybe leave it 7 or 8 months after you decide what you want, then think about it some more.. which is what i did and then decided i still wanted what i had drawn and so i am happy with it... another thing i can say is do not pick anything from the wall, no offence if any of you people have done this but i believe having an original tattoo is the key to you liking it and it being nice and admired by people. possibly get your mother, brother or a close friend to draw some ideas out for you

rather than look at pictures of bike tattos have a look at bike art such as david mann and take influence from it for a tattoo that suits you. I would save a couple hundred personally and find a really good artist to spend a few sessions getting it just right. You can almost do anything with a tattoo gun, have it as realistic as you like.

If your handy with photoshop/ilustrator you can get some nice vecta effects from images that make good tattoos if you want something abit simpler:

plenty to choose from here:

https://home.att.net/~knucklehead-47/dmann.htm

https://home.att.net/~knucklehead-47/15.jpg

maybe print off a few things and have your artist draw you a few designs from it. Bigger the better

you could change the words on this one for an arm/forearm piece.

https://home.att.net/~knucklehead-47/t34.jpg

Let me know if you want me to photoshop any of the designs onto bodyparts see how it looks.

I would have thought if you don't know what tattoo you want then you don't really want a tattoo.

I wouldn't walk into a shop and pick one from a book.

Those tribal Maori tattoos look great, but now every skinny pikey in a tracksuit has one, or a cheap immitation.

Here's a bold idea:

Get your head shaved and have your entire skull/head tattooed in replica racing lid graphics of your choice - Rossi/Corser etc. Would look great with a pair of wrap around shades.

hey everyone thanks for your input, within the next few weeks ill be looking around at designs and making a few of my own (probably from bits of every other tattoo) and see what it turns out like, then ill think about getting it done (for the record i was gonna go with a tribal arm band around my arm but after thinking about it a bit iv decided i want something custom, something about bikes and not some crap thats "in" at the moment, i know a few people have stuff like live to ride and ride to live on their arms and stuff so i mite get a picture and stick a word or 3 under it/over it, for now back to designs Twisted Evil

Once youve got a rough idea of what you want then start going round to a few places and searching the internet for good tattoo artists in your area. A good one will be able to give you advice about it etc...

Taken me 6 months to narrow what I want down to 3 people who I would really like to speak to/possibly get it done by. That's after putting the idea off for 2 years to make sure I still wanted it done. It will probably take me until the end of this/the beggining of the next year to actually get started due to sorting the design out as well. Just make sure you take your time, there's no rush.

All of my tattoo's except one was done by a guy named Tim in Oldbury, nr Birmingham. Each one is a one off that he would draw while I tried to explain what I was looking for. My last tat took about 15 hours and was all done freehand.

Despite what anyone tells you it hurts more than you might think especially under your arm but I think thats one of the addictions Twisted Evil. Don't drink alcohol before you go or you will bleed like a stuck pig.

Most good artists will have actual photo's of their work, should give a good idea of how good they really are.

cool, well i doubt ill be getting anything for a few months now that iv given it some thought, ill keep looking into some stuff and will probably get one in 6 months or so and spend a hundred or 2 out on it and make it a good one, just 1 question though, are tattoos more expensive the bigger they are or the more complicated they are to do? or both? Personally I think biking tattoos are a bit cheesy and 'orrible, kind of a Hells Angels cliche.

Each to their own though, and now I've said this I'll probably love yours! Razz
