Well I've almost lost confidence in my Dunlop D207's when the weather gets even slighty chilly or a cold wind blowing.

I used to run Avon Azaro's and they where awesome for grip but they don't do a 170 rear section tyre for my G1 600R anymore. Yesterday I took a left hander in 2nd and let rip coming out and the tyre kangeroo'd me 3 times before gripping and getting on with it. They are ok tyres but most other 'more sporty/grippy' tyres all seem to come in 180 sections rears.

Could I fit a 180 rear onto my bike and would it make any difference to the handling? I think there are only 3 sporty type tyres avalible in 170 now Sad

Yes I know grip isn't good when its a bit colder but these tyres are like switching off the lights. One minute all is well then the next your like WTF! Very vauge in corners.

Also, I've been told if my rim is 5" and not 5.5" I'm fcuked. Anyone know where to check the rim size on the wheel?

Have you tried Pirelli Diablos? I use them on my bike (TRX850) and think they're great. I currently run a 160 section back tyre, so there's no reason why they won't be available in a 170 section. A mate of mine also runs them on his Z1000 and swears by them.

I used to run Dunlops on my old bike and I thought they were crap. I started running Bridgestones after that and the difference was amazing.

If you really do want to go for a 180 section, then you may have to check the clearance between your tyre and swingarm as well?

I'm no great authority on these things, but to me it would make sense to see what decent tyres are available in a 170 section first. What about Bridgestone BT014s? There's bound to be something decent out there! Very Happy

Normally the size is cast on the rim somewhere, or maybe a spoke.

All the best

Hmmm I might give them a try. Think some burnouts are in order to get rid of this rear!

I'll check the rim size later. Anyone know off the top of there head if Pilot Powers come in 170 sections?

Very soft though ! My Pilot Sports lasted 2500 miles I'd hate to think what a softer compound would last.

Diablos fit the 170 rim, I've got them on my G2. I dont think you'll need a better tyre on the road tbh.

Wrong tyre for the bike, 207's work well on big heavy bikes like my ZZR1100, tyre is good for dry but not so in the wet, mind you I dont trust anytyre in the wet cos it cant go through that puddle with diesel mixed with it when you hit it in a bend

i had d207's fitted as standard when i bought my 636 new
they're a nightmare in the wet and used to spin up at the first hint of acceleration and are total confidence killers.
then bought a honda hornet as a second bike which had a pair on and they were like a totally different tyre.
not making excuses for them cause i reckon that although they worked on the hornet there is many tyres which would also have worked equally on both bikes.
now got pireeli diablos(not the corsas) on the hornet and they're a hard wearing tyre which will last at least 4-5000 miles.
now using bt020s on the zx and theyre a good all round tyre that ive had 5000 miles from(although theyre shot)
