Well there you have it Rossi is human.

Rossi took Melandri out after trying to take the inside. Causing them both to crash. Thumbs Up Confused Thumbs Down

Didn't really see the race just the last 2 laps put eurosport on only to see 11 racers. Race ended then saw Rossi crash none are injured. That's all now folks. Thumbs Up Wink Trying to find some more info on the race atm.

Rossi didn't even finish along with:

Valentino Rossi
Marco Melandri
Alex Barros
Sete Gibernau
Shinya Nikano
Tohru Ukawa
Roberto Rolfo
Alex Hoffman

And Naoki Matsudo didnt finish his first lap.

Only 11 riders managed to finish:

1st: Loris Capirossi
2nd: Max Biaggi
3rd: Makoto Tamada
4th: Carlos Checa
5th: John Hopkins
6th: Colin Edwards
7th: Nicky Hayden
8th: Kenny Roberts
9th: Toni Elias
10th: Ruben Xaus
11th: Franco Battaini

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Here you go Thumbs Up Wink

Quote:
Loris Capirossi claimed victory in the Japanese Grand Prix as Valentino Rossi's march towards a fifth world championship suffered a rare setback at Motegi.

Gauloises Yamaha rider Rossi could have wrapped up the title with a top-two finish but instead crashed out when colliding with Marco Melandri while challenging for third place near halfway.

That left the door open for Ducati Marlboro rider Capirossi to convert his pole position into a race victory, with the Italian edging out compatriot Max Biaggi into second.

Repsol Honda rider Biaggi closed the gap on runaway championship leader Rossi to 112 points, with the latter admitting today's crash was his fault.

Makoto Tamada gave the home crowd something to cheer about by grabbing third while Carlos Checa of Spain was fourth.

Just some of it.

I was gutted to see Rossi crash, he was doing so well after qualifying badly. It would have been interesting seeing where he would have finished.

Wasn't really stupid, just a mistake. There were loads of very, very close passes during the race; I'm amazed no-one else went off near the front. Capirossi and Biaggi were having a right fairing-battering battle!

Agreed about Rossi though, he went straight over to Marco to see if he was okay.

The commentators said Rossi needed to be 125 points clear to win the championship, so if he had finished 3rd behind Biaggi, then he would have been 128 points clear of Biaggi in the standings. He was challenging Melandri for 3rd.

I would have liked to see how he would have done against the front two had he not crashed out.

I've just realised he could have done it in 4th place with Biaggi in second and Melandri in 3rd or vice versa.
