I know the VX is a 4 stroke, but what are the main differences speed and reliability wise?

Apparently higher mileage on the 4 stroke for the age is normal

I've been looking for a 2 stroke version with less than 8000 miles and in good condition, but haven't been able to find anything near me.

Even on Ebay there's only one near me, a VX. Does this look ok or should I avoid?

I wouldn't buy that bike. Its not worth much more than what its at now, its a fairly high mileage 99 jogger, its the old rear drum brake model with the smaller fuel tank compared to the newer bikes. It may also have been crashed if the centre stand was bent.

I wouldn't buy a bike off ebay without seeing it before bidding as there are a lot of crappy bikes on there.

Differences between the 4 stroke VX and the 2 stroke SP/FX runners are really just the engine. The 4 stroke one is not as quick on acceleration as the smoker, but both have similar top end speeds of about 65-70mph in standard form. Better MPG from the VX and you don't need to keep putting 2 stroke oil in it! From the tuning point of view the 2 stroke wins hands down, if you have the cash you can get them up to 36hp+ at the rear wheel, however they are crap on the road for day to day use at this level of tuning.

In standard form both bikes are reliable and have loads of parts available for them cheaply so repairs etc are easy to sort out.

Don't buy it for that much, find a better looking one.

Sounds like it's been crashed, he's not kidding anyone. Although the centre stands on scoots are very weak, if I sat on mine with it on the stand it bent a bit more, but I bent it back into place.

The scuffs and the petrol cap spring all suggest a slide down the road, but you can expect that from a lot of scoots. There's nothing to suggest it's mechanically buggered, so I think it isn't too bad.

Cheers. I had to pass on this one as it's too far away but it looks like it went for a great price:

Don't say that! Yeah I know it looked good but I only came across it with minutes to spare, and would need to arrange a courier.

Going OT but does anyone know a cheap courier for motorbikes?
