My legs are too short Sad

Anyway, I doubt I'd live long riding a 500 2 stroke

I reckon that a Gixer thou would be safer for the average rider...especially since the CR5 can break your leg just from trying to start it Shocked

Still...velly velly nice Very Happy

You can get CR500 supermotos from about £1500, which is very, very tempting. Unfortunaltey the regular rebuilds etc kinda put me off, and it'd probably be a bit of a handfull to use off road for a novice.

well i wouldnt know what about price's as i was just browsing Ebay (as you do).
And came across that.

So you would imagine its harder to ride than your average sports bike then?
hmmm wonder what insurence is like for them?
and whats this about rebuilds? like how often?

but being a 2 stroke arn't the rebuilds fairly easy to do.

As far as I'm aware they're 500cc singles, so yeah rebuilds will be easy to do, and the engine won't be a bastard to work on, cos being a crosser it was designed with the fact that the top end is gonna get changed every few 'races'. It's not the fact of how easy the rebuilds are, it's how much they cost, ever ordered a 499cc piston? Very Happy

the kickstart is enough to put me off, try and kick it over at the wrong stage of its cycle, and like tin said, it brakes your leg

nope, ordered a 50cc piston and fitted that, and that was a piece o piss. lol

and yeh i guess they would be on the expensive side.
but look, theres not many of them floating round at the bike meets...

and the kick start i could get used to...
after wearing numerous amouts of shine pads on untill i get used to the cycle.. lol

Wink

well maybe in a few years...just maybe...

I think you're supposed to do a rebuild about every thousand miles (remember this is based on a competition mx bike).
I'm still tempted as a second bike, but I want a bike that I can commute on etc regularly, so It'd probably have to be a third bike Smile.

I'm nopt saying it's harder to ride than a sports bike, the nearest thing I've come to it is on the klr where I tried some supermoto-style slides with occasional success. However I was saying that *off road* it 's probably best to start on a 250, if not a 125.

i think if i got a bike similar to that, i'd probably not use it off the road,
it'd be on the road 90% of the time.
sorta like land rovers Wink

but i just find they look cool, sound good and generally not many people have them.

Insurence is pretty cheap too,
i just got a few quotes from the net.
Probably a bit out as their on the net.

but you know you can get them cheaper by phoning.

For me it would cost me just over £400 TPO on that specific bike.
so its pretty reasonable.

On second thoughts...i wouldnt get that bike.
done a bit more research into it.
And it would definetly be a good as G said 3rd bike.
Its just not built for what i would use it for, even if it does look cool.
oh well...
