CBR has a double sided swinging arm, VFR has a single sided.

In all honesty there is very little betwean the two. both are about as reliable and as expensive to fix when it all goes wrong.

Straigh line speed handleing and acceloration are very similar, the only small difference is the wider powerband of the VFR which makes it a bit easier to ride and in theory quicker out of corners. In reality it doesnt matter in such a small bike, especially if you don't do track days on the thing!

Go for whatever you can find cheapest, local and in the best condition.

In my experience the CBR has a different power delivery to the VFR, the VFR has more torque.
They are similar to ride, I’ve ridden both, the VFR for me was a little better out of corners etc, I didn’t feel it was fighting me to ride it. As for costs on both, they are expensive when they go wrong, but what the hell aren’t these days unless you get a tame commuter?
The Gixxer to me seems a little quicker, so highly strung though you will find more problems if the bike has been abused, nice size and nice round the twistys.
I have no idea what the Kwak is like, I’ve heard stories of the top end being like a grenade, I have ridden with two and both seem high reving with no grunt.

Best option is to grab a used bike mag thing and read the 3-4 line review for the overall picture……

Only if you are a Kawasaki fetishist who has extremely long legs...

Or if you already own a ZXR and want to justify your purchase by using big capital letters! Razz Smile

I prefer the cbr engine as it feels a lot smoother and theres less vibrations. In a straight line between Ash T's CBR400 and Sean_'s VFR400 the CBR won.

CBR's sound nicer imo too.

I have owned both recently.

Now despite my CBR being a bad example cosmetically it runs fine and I prefer it over the VFR, much easier to ride through traffic and a lot of fun on the twisties. Very smooth power delivery, handling is spot on, as for the brakes, well I never use them but I'm told they're good. Wink

I prefer it over the VFR just because I prefer the engine and how it delivers its power, not sure whether its quicker than the VFR or not but it feels like it is just because I get to rev the tits off it, oh and it sounds like a real bike unlike the VFR. Razz
