Got the Mrs on a bike Very Happy

Its been a long time coming. There has been swearing, trantrums and tears, but the 125 is now happily parked in the garage Smile

She'll be along shortly!

Congrats Thumbs Up a blade would be a laugh Thumbs Up I cant remember which mag did the 180 test, wich a complete novice never even sat on a bike they wanted to see if they could get him doing 180 on a bike in less than a day, with a total of 2 hours riding various bikes from CBR 125 and a 6 in there somewhere they had him doing 160 something on a blade, how funny is that Thumbs Up

Cant go wrong with GP 125's. If you sit over the back and floor it with a little pull the front wheel will come up. Make sure your in second as first gear is very short. And get her into the habbit of keeping it in second and slipping the clutch a little around roundabouts/at junctions she doesnt stop at. It will stop the pogo effect and generally makes her smoother.

Also if it's a drum brake model make sure you check it every month or so. Mine seem's to get worse in it's action very quickly.

Pretty quick bike for what it is, shoddy brake though.

Edit: it woll beat Porshce's from the lights, enough to get in front of them anyway. Laughing

Edit 2: The bike will do a true 65-70mph but as you have probably seen it's got a VERY short wheelbase. Get your missus to press gently against the tank on both sides when at these speeds as it will avoid any unnecessary/worrying weaving. Below this the bike is fine, that speed is also at the redline so wouldnt advise doing that alot.

I can't remember, but I think the GP was restricted in 87 by a simple plastic ring stopping the slide from going all the way up.

It that a power restriction? Wouldn't have thought they made much anyway.

TBH I don't think the model we've got is restricted anyway. Its quite nippy as long as you keep the revs between 5-7K.
Rode from Leeds to York no probs and overtook HGV's with ease.

As far as I was aware the GP125 only ever made 14.2bhp so no need for restrictors.

Well I think it was more to do with popping a wheelie then going airboure over a hidden drop whilst she was on the back! She was NOT impressed! Laughing

Finally got my missus out on the back of my bike at the weekend, she was VERY nervous (bad previous experience) to start, but enjoyed it.
Trouble is that now she wants to come out on it more often, and she also has her eye on leathers, lid etc - being a woman she has obviously got her eye on the most expensive dianese 1 piece suit in the shop, and she expects me to buy it!!
Shocked

Would be cool to see her riding one....
