iv decided. Ditch the idea of a GSF bandit (its simply not tall enough) and the fazer will cost me too much to insure as an 18 year old.

So, the nakeds are pretty much done as i cant find a hornet in my price range.

Sooooo,

Cruisers! I do like the look of a cruiser (iv got into them more as my biking mates all ride them and from riding the shadow 600 and the dragstar 650 i like the torquey feel)

My plan is to pick up a nice 600-800 cruiser at around 50bhp, restrict to the legal 33bhp. However as all the chrome and polishing crap needs to be kept up to date, it wont be my commuter hack.

I will insure a cruiser for summer rides to matlock, the bulldog bash, trips to scarborough and santapod. Might even get down to Ace's next summer as a friend of a friend is a founder member down there.

I will keep the hyosung insured third party only for 12 months and travel to work on that and also use it for days and nights out where the weather is just this side of iffy!

not a bad plan me thinks.

But i know i will end up back on a naked when the insurance drops when im older.

Not a real fan of them as most people who ride them are ass holes. I said MOST because you most probaly wont be. And at the end of the day its up to you. I hope you find the one you want and enjoy it. The Suzuki Intruder's are good bikes some one i used to work with had one there huge! thats the only cruiser i have ever sort of liked.

I think you shd try some bikes first

I thought I might like a cruiser, but they are only good in straight lines or gentle bends. So no good in town where you need to do 90degree corners. I tried a rebel 250.

im 6'1 but not exactly small built. Nice way of considering myself not a fatty!

i sat on the bandit and i just didnt like the feel. I tried out a fazer, although more comfy it wouldnt drop enough on insurance and the hornet just doesnt fall into my price braket.

thats y im thinkin of getin a cruiser because im going to be keeping the bike for a few years and feel that this is the better option for me over that time. Believe me thought, im all up for the xjr1300!

I ride a cruiser, my first bike was an Eliminator 125, and now i've got a 400 Vulcan.

Although i'm not short (5' 8) they are aimed at shorter riders as they have very low seats, so if your overly tall you may find it uncomfortable.

To the guy who can't get around a corner in town on a 250 cruiser, stick to getting the bus

Personally to me being on the bike is about the journey, not the finish line, therefore I wanna ride in comfort, and within the speed limits....

CX650 is worth looking at, plenty of grunt, shaft driven, potental to tart it up immensely and sold as a solid thing on solid day..

Not much tart value but..

I'd also look at a v-max or magna (honda)

thats why im draged towards the marauder above and the dragstar, iv sat on them and i dont feel cramped up or uncomfy whereas the virago crushes my legs and the shadow is a fun ride but again crushes up my legs.

its what im going for and will find myself going out of the way to wave at every other biker out there

im not going for all the harley jackets, open faced lid and the such, just riding the bike i want to ride. Simple.

Have you ever considered a SV650 or 1000 as they have cheap insurance and will also give you that V twin sound and naked sports handling, might be what you are looking for.

Don't buy a new cruiser, they are expensive like A J says plus I really hate the whole image of new cruisers. Get an old cruiser save your self some money and use that money on making it right for you, you can change the handlebars and you can change the seat also highway pegs are a great fix to the cramped up feeling your getting as you can ride with your legs stretched out, you can also get a platform for your feet rather than a peg.

i've seen people take u turns on narrow 2 way roads by my house that a road bike wouldn't stand a chance at doing in one so that's rubbish when people say the handling is really bad.

Have you thought of a 250 Hornet? They can crack on a bit,and are physically almost identical to its big brother 600cc.

the hornet 250 is a damn nice bike, but it's just over the 33bhp limit i think, some say it is legal, but im sure in makes 34-36 bhp. Also, would the import factor not be a bitch on insurance? They're the only two negatives to the bike, and they are damn nice!
