Quick oil Question

What is a good quality oil to use for my Honda cg 4 stroke 125cc?
Also what is the recomended oil for it as standard.

For the amount of time people usually use a 125cc for, I would suggest any 10w-40 semi synthetic oil. I don't think it'll make that much difference unless you're using it for very high mileages.

Not sure if Hein Gericke are doing the deal anymore but you could buy 5l of MOTUL oil, air filter and oil filter for something like £23.

Get some cheap mineral oil and change it regularly. Far better to use cheap oil but change it every 2k miles, than to stick in expensive stuff but leave it 5k miles or more between changes. This is especially true on a bike like the cg125.

/edit: Don't think the cg125 has an oil filter, just some little wire mesh with the drain bolt.

Yea just has a small mesh insert behind the drain bolt. So i realy should go for a Basic 10w -40 oil then.

Castrol GTX 10W40 is what I normally recommend, but it'll be quite happy running on any mineral/ semi-synthetic oil with a rating of between 5W30 to 20W50, and maybe an even larger range than that.

(Currently I'm using Formula 1 20W50, £3 a gallon. )

The CG was designed to run on something similar to freshly dead dynosaur. Pretty much any oil will be suitable. However they really will need regular oil changes (although the CG seems quite able to put up with this abuse).

Cheers did the change today and boy did it need it the oil was black. Bike topped 75mph after the change!

If the clutch uses the same oil as the engine only use an oil blended specificly for motor cycles. Halfrauds do some. Gericke stuff is cool too.
'Car' oil has lubrication improvers that mess with the clutch of motorcycles. Honest!
You should have been told that by the forum 'experts'.
