Just wondering if I could get some new tyres that would better handle the roads throughout winter, and possibly even snow! :-p.

Got BT45's at the minute, dont have any trouble in the wet, but snow is a different story and I'd like to be prepared.

Cheers,
Chris

If your in the UK then snow tyres are illegal and besides I wouldn't ride a bike when it was snowing and icy anyway! Shocked

Leave it all snug and warm in your garage and get the bus!

Anyway, there were only a few icy/snowy days last year so not alot to warrant snow tyres in this country.

Will be living in York, commuting to Sheffield :-p.

I was just wondering if there were any "meatier" tyres that fit the CB500... I know last year a guy I used to work with had a crosser and rode all over in the snow, he switched his road tyres over to his off-road pair and said they worked a treat.

My other options are:

Catch the train (bleh, trains suck)
Get a car (as dangerous as far as im concerned)
Work from home... (I really need to convince my boss to lemme do this!)
Get a job in York (a possibility...)[/list]

The BT45's are probably the best tyre you can get for the CB500.

In all weather conditions, there is nothing else you can put on it bar turning it in to some hybrid crosser/road bike.

If I were you I'd buy an XR125 Honda or something and ride that all winter if your wanting an offroader.

I have a cb500s, although they are great in all weathers, snow is really scary!!! Done that a few times! lol.
The tyres that are on there should be in fine, but I wouldn't suggest riding in the snow...

I actually need a new rear tyre... I'm almost down to the little marker (not sure what its called :-p).

I know what tyres I need but I'm a little new to looking for tyres and wondered where the best/cheapest place to pick one up from?

Cheers,
Chris
