Parking attendants break the law?

I received my first parking ticket the other day, while picking up some breakfast after my last night shift.

I looked out of the window of the cafe to see the little tit writing me up for being parked on the pavement. I resolved not to be one of these awful people that either begs or threatens the representative of Harrow's rip=off council.
However, his little scooter was parked on the double yellow lines right next to me. Considering I've seen stories about the police being ticketed whilst responding to 999 calls, is it really legal for a P/A to park his little moped in a no parking area, just to ticket me?

He was trying to read my tax disc, (which is in my wallet in my pocket) when I came out of the cafe and he was forced to beat a hasty retreat. He's lucky that after a 12hr shift, I considered £40 to be a reasonable price for a hot breakfast!

It's idle curiosity really, as I knew I shouldn't be parking on the pavement there, but assuming there was any CCTV evidence, would that get him into trouble?

I caught the sado-masochistic skum that stuck my car in Edinburgh. He walked out between two parked cars (Silly thing to do) And I swerved at him and gave the horn a blast. I think he's still picking shit from his socks.

Well, this chap was about 5'3, to my 6'1 and 220lbs, in uniform, with cuffs and other strange stuff hanging off my duty belt. He also, in his hurry to escape, went the same way I was planning to go home, so he spent about 1.5 miles glancing nervously at me in his rear-view mirrors.

From the point of view of his offence - Harrow is covered in CCTV, so if I reported it, and they could be arsed to look into it, I've no doubt that it would prove me right.

To be honest, I don't have a leg to stand on, I knew I was in the wrong, it just really gets on my tits that I pay around £1300 a year to the council, for which I get just about nothing apart from idiots like this chasing me around for MORE money! Even worse, the way the council writes it's letters for tickets and council tax is offensive in the extreme.

MisterJames, if you have a mobile phone that takes piccys perhaps a snap of his scooter on the double yellows (with no.plate showing) may have helped . Having said that they are probalbly exempt whilst working.

Ya see, I don't think they are, but unfortunately, I wasn't really with it, having been awake for a stupid amount of time through the night.

No point bribing these people, once they've started writing out the ticket, they won't cancel it, and I'd rather my cash went towards whatever anti-white cultural festival Harrow Council is planning next than a cowardly little stoat of a man that won't even stand his ground in his chosen profession.

Siggi, I'm starting to come round to your way of thinking. What really bugs me is when you read the small print of some of these council fines and fees.

We live in a society that agonises over whether we should detain known terrorists over 'illegally obtained' information, while councils don't need evidence or proof, they can just do things unchallenged!

Parked with one or more wheels on any part of an urban road other than the carriage way.

What gets me is that they tend to hover in areas where, whilst illegal, the parked vehicles are not causing an obstruction, but ignore areas such as crossroads and schools where they are - but are occupied and thus the P/A risks confrontation.

Next time take your number plate with you. I don't think it's an offence to not display it if it's parked on a pavement and if the warden cant see the reg he can't really ticket you.

Nope you get even more screwed for that, it would become a police matter. People used to put cloths over their plates because wardens weren't allowed to touch them, but the loophole has been removed and you get done for concealing your numberplate now.

OK then, but can you really be arsed taking your plate off every time you park? Especially since I consider parking in towns a major benefit of riding a bike.

I've seen the 2 parking wardens with their mopeds parked on the zig zag of a pedestrian crossing while they booked someone who was parked on the double yellows. I was going to take a picture with my phone but there was nowhere to stop. I've seen em doing this on several occasions now, I'll get the bastards one day!

they display signs in there cars stating that they can stop on double yellows to book you...wankers but a zig zag is 3 points on you licence no matter who you are !

Had one placed on my bike when i was parked outside a pub in sutton, he had done me but left cars either side of me unfined, luckily i had a mate with a video camera record the other cars without fines and threatened to kick up a stink about it so they canceled the ticket.

Ive heard of a warden trying to put a ticket on a bike as it tried to pull away, if he tried that with me id have no hesitation in taking the company to court for risking my life.

My mate got taken to court for running over a traffic warden. (well one of them council ones anyway).

He ran over the guys foot. (don't think it was deliberate).

He ended up with a fine and 6 points.
