insuring an off the road bike

i have just gotten my CBR! (pics to follow)

since i havent got my test yet, the bike will be kept in my garage for the next while.

Do i need to insure my bike with vehical insurance for theft,,, or will it be covered by house insurance against theft?

you will strugle to get it insured if you dont have a licence to ride the bike you wont be able to get covered, all house hold policies have exclusions on for any motor powered vehicle.

someone probably does laid up fire and theft cover, as long as its garaged, seek a broker like footmanjames they may do a policy or know a company that can

like i said in my last post, he will strugle getting cover on it as he does not have the licence to ride it.

Might be easier trying to get it put on the house insurance for a month or so. But don't just assume it will be covered, you'll need to ring them.

why do you need a licence to insure laid up fire and theft? its not going near the road, failing that get someone else to insure on laid up cover, you can insure any thing theses days its just where to look

There used to be a few companies doing fire and theft only policies but last time we tried it worked out a lot cheaper to get TPFT cover

I had my scrambler insured for theft only in the garage. Can't remember who with but it was quite inexpensive.

Try The British Insurance Broker association. (BIBA for short) they are like a yellow pages of insurance, they'll be able to sort you out:
