How to look after the bike during winter -Bike to be garaged

Hi following the earlier post, about people intending to ride through winter.

I am planning to stop at the first salting session (November I guess).

What I am asking is what to do to look after the bike so it will keep in the garage.

Where I live is very hilly and motorcycling on an ER-5 with standard Bridgestones, would be suicidal.

Anway I have a garage.

But my plan is, to keep the tank full.

Spray all areas of the bike with WD-40, at least once a week.

Battery charge twice a week.

Tyre pressures reduced by 10 PSI.

Engine start, twice a week and leave engine to run for 4 minutes.

10 mile run (Maybe), once every 2 weeks.

Now what have I missed.

Somepeople mention covering their bikes with plastic even in the garage? Is this a good idea.


Any advice greatly appreciated.

just look after it as you would if you were riding it about,,
center stand , run it from time to time and go up and down the gears,, just give it a bloody good wash and polish firs tbefore sticking it in the garage,, just dont take the polish off.
a dust cover is ok if its garaged, also you can make sure you keep it dry by having heating in the garage,,,
buy an optimate instead fo a battery charge,
and you dont need to go mad with wd, its crap anyway ,, i use chain lube on nearly all my parts,, lasts longer,, wd is penetrating oil that washes away greese

remove the battery, put fuel stablizer in the tank and place the whole bike in side a "VAC bag".

Stick it in the garage, wheel it out 4 months later. Worked for all my bikes
