which lid

i am considering a new lid 'cause all the scary stories about the flip up lids are bothering me. I have a caberg j1+ and i like it, but as i say, there seems to be issues with this new technology, i.e. the lid coming up on impact

...anyhoo...

anyone reccomend a winner from these two that i have narrowed the selection down to.

1. nitro n800v £50 delivered from m&p

or

2. takachi tk100 £65 delivered from m&p

can't make me mind up...could do with some help here guys,and gals

What's the horror stories with flip-up lids, I was considering one?

well, i heard and read that in certain situations the flipup part would do exactly that...i.e. flip up in a crash situation, which , i'm sure you'd agree is not a good selling point

the whole flipup thing is a new technology and as such it hasn't been proven to be safe in all areas of use.

maybe i'm just being paranoid, or maybe i just like buying new things....but...i am definitely going for a standard full face from now on

I'm wearing a standard atm, but a flip up appeals to me as they are much more comfortable to put on, so I've heard. I'll have to look into that... Thumbs Up

I used to have a flipup roof boxer but switched to a roof daytona.

last week i hit a concreate slab at speed that someone had left in the centre of the road midway through a corner.... a splinter of the slab struck my visor and left a nice scratch down the centre of it, would have neatly smashed me on the nose....

Oh well got away with just a badly dented front wheel and a 2 hour wait for the rac

Do flip up style helmet's visors open? I like to ride with my visor open a crack, obviously riding with the front up a crack on a flip up is out of the picture... Rolling Eyes

I would stay clear of flip-ups but I would also stay clear of budget full faces such as Nitro and Takashi.

If you don't want to crazy spending money on a lid get something like a KBC, they are spot on lids.

mr g....the flip up fits me lovely, and i have never had a standard full face one before so i dont know

so ....so...so i guess i'll just have to swan round a few shops and see what gives, eh..???

I've got a nitro 800v - it's my second, the first protected my bonce after I landed on my head and slid 15 feet following a 30mph highside.
Did the job marvellously, barely felt it, and visible damage was minimal, leading me to believe it would perform well at higher impact speeds too.
Comfortable for my strange potato head, but quite noisy. MD headphones soon sort that out though....

i had my first crash in a Takachi and it worked well. The comfort is not as good but i got it free so i wasnt complaining, i have a kbc now and recomend them you can pick some cheap kbc helmets up or shark helmets.
