Study into how helmets can be improved. This along with a US reports saying that current crash helmets are too rigid to provide best crash protection seem to have caused a bit of a stir.

Hello,
VAT should still be charged on leathers, boots and gloves.

This is because if they were 'safety' equipment then they would need to be CE marked. This would be ludicrously expensive and probably double the cost of most leathers (and boots and gloves).

Now personally, I think they cost a lot as it is and do provide reasonable protection. I am happy to pay VAT on the basis that otherwise I'd have to pay 'safety tax' of the CE marking.

Helmets are a different matter. They are already tested for safety and so should not be subject to VAT IMO.

Never really thought about lids before with regard to this TBH...
