Got woken up at 2:30 this morning by my bike alarm blipping a warning and then a crashing sound. I looked out the window to see my bike lying on its side in the middle of the road, so I chucked a dressing gown on and some shoes and went for a quick jog around looking for blood. Evil or Very Mad Although I heard someone running and the sound of what might have been a van engine I couldn't find anyone. It seems that some scrotes had been trying to shift the bike away, but the blipping must have scared them so they just dropped the bike and ran. Total cost of their twattery at the moment seems to be a broken brake lever, gouged crash bungs, scuffed exhaust and bar end, scraped mirror and scratched real plastic. Luckily the R&Gs did their stuff and saved most of the plastics except for one panel. When the Police came round they told me that quite a few bikes had been stolen around this area recently, so I'm going to be extra vigilant at night now. Just a heads up really to any other bike owners in York, especially around the Race Course area where I live, just be careful with your bikes.

get a few of your mates to stay around for a few nights/weeks (if you have the room) and if they come back ambush the tossers, hit em over the head a few times with baseball bats and shove em in big sacks, then tie em up hanging from the ceiling inside the sacks and repetedly beat them with baseball bats and throw stuff at them (base balls?) mabe have a few games at their expense Twisted Evil then when your done and their half dead drop them off at the local hospital and run like hell! they wont be able to go to the cops because you can point out their atempted theft of your bike for a second time not to mention all thos other poor bikes they mite have nicked Thumbs Up
might want to invest in a good chain (think you can get great ones that wont break for about £200)

Buy a sword.

If you do hear them, even in your underware a sword in hand instantly makes you a hell of alot more intimidating.

Having been run at by a sword wheelding maniac should be sufficien to deter any future attempts to steal from you Laughing Thumbs Up

Here's to whoever did it getting a swift comeuppance! Thumbs Up

I'd just make them live with me,

I can break most mens will to live within a few weeks Laughing

Seriously though, if I found anyone trying to nick owt o' mine, i'd kick the living shit out of them Evil or Very Mad

I hate thieving scum, the only satisfaction you can have long term is that they have to live with themselves, forever (hopefully not that long)

A naked man brandishing a large, bladed weapon is far more intimidating than one in a dressing gown and slippers. Thumbs Up

Sorry...i'll stop laughing in a minute....

The only naked man who's ever come remotely close to looking intimidating was Oliver Reed in Castaway, and even the great Ollie still looked silly! Laughing

Hmmm selective quotation. The important bit was "brandishing a large, bladed weapon". Tends to focus the attention away from the apparent silliness of the situation and more towards "This person is so pissed off they don't care about running down the street naked. I wonder what their attitude to actually using that huge sharp metal thing on part of my anatomy would be?". I would say screaming loudly would be helpful too.

I keep one of these under my bed. I live alone and we were getting a lot of sneak thefts in the town a while back. Amazing how much confidence it gives you.

Of course, whirling a morning star around your head with both hands while charging towards them naked and screaming would really do the trick.
