What is the point of car drivers doing this? I dont ride that slow, 30 mph speed limits are only stuck to when its dangerous to do over the speed limit like in a built up busy residential area.

But when im doing 55 in a 40 (dont slate me) keeping a good sized gap between me and the car in front, but some arsehole was right up my arse, to the point where he was filling my mirrors.

Why do they do this, it really pisses me off.

I know it sound wimpish but let them past or be ready for action at the next lights/giveway.
You're told to drive slower if tailgated. It forces the person following to also slow but if so slow let them pass.
If you drive a Sherman tank/Binmotor then by all means play with them a bit.
But if you're on two wheels be ready to die or fight.
They may be doing it to intimidate you or they are just lacking in general.
One never knows what kind of krazee is driving the car behind either.

Unfortunatly yeah, but L plates or not been riding for 2 years with various 125/50's a just havent got round to doing my test. Its not like im riding slow either, it frustrates me, and after being pranged by a car from behind i get a bit nervous. Thing is tho i give them plenty of oppurtunity to let them past but they stay there, and im not being bullied into going 2 cm frm the kerb! Pay road tax so entiteled to use the road. Wankers.

Yeah just slow down veeery gradually, but to 10mph below the speed limit, when they overtake you bash the throttle just to show them that you can move when you're not pissing them off. Twisted Evil

I'm a lot more worried doing that on a bike than in a car.

And it's not limited to learner bike riders, get it all the time in my Laguna and did in my £115 battered Passat Estate.

Have got to around 20mph on a motorway sliproad before someone got the message in the past.

Had the same problem on a ride-out on Sunday - pratt in a BMW right up my exhaust pipe. Evil or Very Mad

Three quick dabs on the rear brake and he backed right off. Laughing

Mind you came passed like a nutter when we got to the dual carriageway. Shocked

I have the same problem. 'L' Plates would seem to be the best explanation as someone mentioned. Anyhow, keep your cool and show them the middle finger. Good riders etc should never be pressured into riding badly so stick to your guns is the best advice. Some guy talil gated me and at the lights was smiling at me in a friendly way like good competition or something. I just thought fucking idiot and gave him a dirty look and pissed right off. Smile

I was coming home on the A19 (for those who know it) down from middlesbrough and there was a guy in a saab tailgating me on that really bad bridge over the valley bit, where it gets extreemly windy as it was today so I was battling to keep the bandit in a straight line and not get blown across the road. Oh I have slowed down to 70 by this point. and he is tailgating me obv trying to make me go faster because I have inconveinianced him a small amount obviously fighting against the strong side wind.

eeeejit, I just kept my cool and carried on. No point in getting into a confrontation over something I would never convince him I was right about.

Thing is tho, in the conditions were getting now high Winds, Rain etc. Bikers have to slow down a bit. Its alright for them all warm in there cage listening to soothing jazz with the Air con on.

Here is the thing,

1) Im on a bandit so its not a small bike

2) No L plates as I have passed my test

3) I had slowed down to the speed limit on the duel carrigeway.

I was traveling between 80 and 90 somewhere but couldnt carry on at that speed over this bridge.

some people are so rude. Neutral

So does it not get any better even when you lose your L plates and get on a bigger bike?

Today I borrowed an Innova 125 from work. On the way back a woman in a clio tail gated me at 45 (40 limit) and flawed it past me. So I decided to filter past her at 60 when she stopped for traffic.

THEN, A red Skoda Octavoia did the same coming to a roundabout, so i took a risk, didnt back off the throttle and overtook him in the same lane on the roundabout.

FUCKING WANKERS

Why do I never have this problem on the RSV Mille??? Thinking

Had a similar thing happen to me and a mate earlier this week.

We were riding along at around 30 mph (there was a leaner car 2 cars ahead and the road was too narrown to overtake) This twat of a BMW driver was behind us and tried to overtake us. ( By 'us' i mean me, my mate, a corsa, and a learner driver all in one go, on a narrow road, with plenty or road islands! Rolling Eyes ) It didnt even manage to get past me and ended up driving along side next no me on my right hand side, and only inches behind my mate Shocked Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

Some people are just born twats i swear Mad

What gets me tho, they all seem in a hurry! Even when im in a hurry i dont tailgate anyone! keep a good distance between me and the car/bike/van/bus etc in front of me. One thing that really pissed me off today tho, was some stupid bitch, decided to bloody spray her windows, when i was behind her with my visor open, inconsiderate ugly fat bitch!

It gets much better on bigger bikes and No L plates but you still get the odd tosser,

Sometimes I accelerate as they try to come passed me when I am doing 80/90ish going passed trucks and they are up your tyre in the outside lane.

Funny as they floor it passed you then you accelerate then they have to pull back in.

Or when you go to change lanes and someone boots it so you cannot get infront of them and you just give it some more and they cannot close the gap as you are much faster than them.

sadly not an option on a 125...not even the 2t screamers.

Yeah definatly not an option on a 125! Hopefully that will change when i move onto a bigger bike. Just dont want anyone to go through the back of me again, it hurts like hell!

I'm a lot more worried doing that on a bike than in a car.

No need to worry g Mr. Green just be aware of road conditions, speed limits, knowledge that tailgating is illegal and if you told a copper that your response to tailgating was to slow down the response would be in the affirmative. The highway code states that's what your ideal and safest response would be. https://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/ruinkai/biggthumpup.gif
Also note me old cocker Mr. Green if someone was being tailgated in a driving test and there response was anything more than maintaining correct speed or slowing down-They'd fail.

I think someone posted a theory on wobbling about like f**k in front of gaters.
It makes them fall back in case they off you.
Who has the stats on that system?

Best thing, just maintain a gap wherever possible and as for gaters...don't give in. I know sometimes people have real emergencies but for the most part I think it's just wreckless driving.
