Hey,

Ive got a k5 GSXR 600 and I'm Just wondering what type of mileage a Bridgestome BT014 rear should be gettin before it needs to be changed? I've 5500 kms done and there's not alot left on it. Is this normal? Oh What would you guys recommend, stick with bridgestones or choose between Pilot Powers and Diablos?

Thanks

Joey

Depends entirely what you do with it, to be honest.

Some people on here get terrible mileage out of tyres, come get brilliant. Depends how you ride and how badly your suspension's set up. Smile

From what I've read 5500kms seems a fair distance from 014's.

I always used to use 010's then changed to 014 when they stopped the 010's. I got the same mileage out of both tyres.. about 3-4k miles. I do a lot of commuting and they tend to go a bit flat down the middle Sad That'll teach me to use soft tyres!

My new bike came with Pilot Powers and I like them a lot. They are every bit as good as the Bridgestones in the dry and possibly a little better in the wet but there's not much in it! They seem to last about as long as the 014's. Recently changed my rear at 4500 miles but the front is still going strong! Laughing

I get between 2500 and 3500 miles out of a rear, unfortunately only got 65 out of one once but that was down to an unlucky screw in it Crying or Very sad

Tyre weld is your friend!

Keep a can under your seat.. I've run tyres over 3000 miles with the stuff in, it's great! You gotta put it in right though then run the bike for about 10 miles!

Use Slime or punctureseal rather than tyreweld BEFORE you get a puncture. It's water soluble so you can wash it out and have the puncture bunged when you get a chance, tyre weld is a solvent and attacks the rubber making it impossible to repair properly and if it fails, the tyres scrap.

I get anything up to 8000miles from 010s, well I did my Blade, they've done about 5000km on my Gixxer and still got loads left, reluctant to switch to 014s but will have to when the 010 stocks finally die. The thing that kills tyres is constant throttle stop acceleration, if you accelerate smoothly and brake the same all the time, then you're tyres will last vastly longer. Tyre pressures are the other main thing, if you're running low, which so many people seem to be without knowing, you kill you're tyres, also suspension plays a big role, and your weight.

The screw turned up when there was a phase of it going around our area. It was in a place I really wouldnt like to have plugged or welded by any material. I just sacked it off and got another.

On a seperate note I had that familiar 'level with the wear mark' touchy feely test tonight. Only got a couple of hundred miles left in her. Another 110 quid down the shitter i suppose. might even try some michelin pilot sports super duper things next summer. Will find some winter ones first!

How many laps of a typical roundabout is 2000m ? And how many knee sliders is that?
