i'm alomost 17 so i've started looking for a 125. i originally wanted an rg125 but these seem to be very rare. the newer shape nsr's are quite tempting but i can't afford the £3000+ price tag for a new one and i haven't seen any 2nd hand ones up here either Crying or Very sad

for those of you who bought your nsr's 2nd hand, were you pleased with it, are there any problems with high milage ones?

also, if anyone knows of any scottish dealers that may have nsr's going cheap.

thanks. (i hope this all makes sense)

I know what you mean, I'm looking for a secondhand 125 stroker, but there just doesn't seem to be any! do they all get wrecked or something? none of the dealers in my area (north east) have any going, and all those in the biketrader are £2500+. Its starting to piss me off.

If you want a cheap nsr get one from Loot or the small ads in your area. Mostly dealers or people with higher priced bikes sell through the big magazines. Yes NSR's get crashed ALOT mine had one respray during the 6 months I had it. Sold it at a loss of 100 over the year after putting about 4k miles on it. Strokers in general have short life spans but you can do some things to avoid them going bang. One is to replace the piston rings. I went a bit further and put in a wiseco piston and some other stuff.

Keep buying Bargain Pages.. Trust me. I spent what seemed like ages looking for the perfect NSR-RK(best height for shorty me), then 2 came up! One was fully intact, in blue white and red with a fairing and a pretty high miliage but it was clean £800, then the one I bought £400 and it is mint (apart form the lack of fairing) AND it's only done 4000 miles...Trust me, if you keep looking you'll find what you want.

You only paid £400 for your NSR - wot a deal!
I paid 4 times that for mine Embarassed , mind you it was in the middle of summer(and I was desperate to buy an NSR at that point) , and from a dealer. It is in very good condition and I think it has been kept well (Good oil etc). I will probably sell it in the summer, but by the sounds of it at a big loss.

I bought a 2 year old Nsr in september 2001, for 2100 which was a bargin as i knocked him down from 2700. if you look long enough youll find what your looking for. Best bet is biketrader but you have to be quick and get on the day of sale. 2 strokes arnt the most reliable so prepare to spend extra money on repairs, in 4 months ive spent 400 quid on mine

I bought my 2nd hand nsr, got quite a good deal. 1998, 7.2k miles, mint condition with Arrows for £1750, got it privatly. i have only had a couple of little problems, but it is normally very reliable

Bought my 1996 NSR125RK Italian import (full power) second hand - 16,000km (about 10,000m) for £1700 in the middle of winter - lucky as sellers girlfriend was making him sell it as they were buying a house ;o). Have done nearly 5000km on it since December - just love that winter riding - and all I have had to do is change the spark plug (£5.25). No other problems and I have a deristricted bike that's good for 150kmh and a smile all day long.

Only downside is I have trouble getting the shopping back from ASDA!!!

There isn't one. Depends on the model and how well it is treated.

All the best

Like keith said, no bike has a lifespan, but parts such as the barrel and piston sure do on a stroker! i think it's 15,000 miles between piston changes on an NSR (Can any owners check?), i know they don't need as much maintenance as the Aprilia.

Ring breakers/salvage yards for used bikes, you'd be suprised what you can find in decent nick (by breaker's standards) for sod all cash. An NSR with a few plastic bits suffed and/or cracked would set you back easily less than £1000. Some go on ebay for as little as £700 in mint condition!

I bought mine off a certain clown from this very forum for £1200, which seems about the going rate. Great little machine too, and it's been looked after really well!

Put a coat of polish on it today and it's shining Cool

I kinda suspected that 1200 was the going rate for a 2000 NSR
But OH NO!
Just because I own one and people don't like me, that makes it worth less Rolling Eyes .

I'd say around that for a private sale, but look on bike trader. 2000 models are going for £1800-£1900 on there! Also depends on the area, around liverpool/birmingham they are all around £1100-£1500, down here in Cornwall there's NONE for sale. Infact the only one I can recall being for sale was an old naked model NSR last year, which went for £1750 within a week (dealer) Shocked

Depends on where you're selling it as much as anything. You could always shift yours down here Andy, it would sell within the week, guaranteed!!

Very kindly ask another member of BCF to check out an NSR for sale in their area, it its good, send the cash, pay the £150 nationwide delivery fee (which you would more than make up for by buying a cheaper bike) gracefully thank the kind BCFer and do them any favor they request. Voila! One new bargain motor!

No

The crash damage and the fact it doesn't run make it worth less.
