Just bought a derestricted cdi, but it will not plug in on my bike as the sockets are different!!
Mine has a cable coming from it and the new one has the sockets grafted directly onto the unit.
Anybody know what I can do with this?

Stephen

i think your are misleading yourselt between the CDI unit (which has the connectors included & a loose wire) and the RC valves unit (which has a bit of loom and 2 connectors ,3 wires & 4 wires plus a loose wire) . can you put a picture of it , and i will tell you or tell me what is written in white .

the CDI is on top , the RC unit is below . just want to say
the RC unit marked TV-78 and the CDI marked CI626 are unrestricted . Warning : if you intend to replace the CI639 by the CI626 you must make a modification , for the RC unit nothing to modify . see https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc

My existing r/c unit is tv-78, does this mean that it does not need to be changed?

you are right , what i saw on your picture is a servo-motor + it's cables and the cdi on the right ( cannot read exactly , but i think it's CI639 which is a restricted one) . you need that cdi with CI626 (honda ref 31810 KBS 901) to be unrestricted . on the 4 wires connector (under your seat at the back) you need to exchange green and black/yellow wires , otherwise your cdi will go within 10 days

Alains, I am very confused. My r/c valve control unit is tv-78, my cdi is ci626, but my bike only does 80km/h, max rev 6000rpm.

There are no mechanical restrictions, I looked for them first!

Help!

i heard about a shunt on the RC valves control unit , avoiding the valves moving . download my file as i told you earlier . under the tank on the right side , you will see the servo and it's pulley . watch carrefully how the pulley moves in the sequence : key on , start engine , idle , then up in the revs . the sequence of valves moving is on my file . if your valves do not move it's probably due to a shunt . take off the rc valves control unit , take a picture where i can see the wires clearly , then i will tell .
