That is really an irrelevant question, because you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference really. For the same year, the jap bikes are |.| that far ahead, but the TT wins on practicality, price and economy.
My bike is as fast as it needs to be to keep up with any jap 600, and it is all day comfy and handles like a magic carpet.
I have just had it serviced, and the annoying vibration that I experienced at certain RPM has now gone, and the brakes are (and have always been) excellent.
In terms of smiles per £ you'd be hard pressed to get a better value bike.
Mine is the blue one, and I personally don't like the yellow and black or the red and silver paintschemes. The blue and jet black ones look acceptable, but yes the headlight does look like a pair of underpants!
I bought mine in June for £2800 with 1450 miles on the clock. for a 2002 sports 600 with such low miles that has to be a bargain.
I have ridden a CBR600 and R6, and I prefer the handling of the TT to the twitchy and uncertain R6 and the CBR felt similar, if slightly spongier.
The engine feels sharp and ready, but mine has the latest fuel map and has the supposedly improved 2002 cams, that eliminate the glitch that is supposed to happen in the midrange. All of the bike mags report that this glitch is resolved on earlier bikes with the latest mapping anyway.
I can't really think of a better endorsement than the fact that I took this bike to scotland, toured and scratched when I got there and rode back in good comfort. I cannot think of a bike that I had rather taken tbh.
Its probably not everyones cup of tea, but they are cheap to buy, cheapish to insure and generally not thrashed to hell (like the equivalent R6, Gixxer6 or ZX6R). It doesn't make me go weak at the knees every time I look at it, but its a pretty damn good bike. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
