Hi,

I bought a small bottle of redex (50ml) for 99 pence and was wondering if it is okay to put this into my fuel tank to clean out the carburettor?

Will cause any damage or will it work fine?

Also, how much should I put in a full tank?

Thanks. Thumbs Up

Oh yeah, bike is a Honda NSR 2001.

Just keep to the 10ml per 10L and you can't go wrong. I used it every fill up on the NSR without problems.

I didnt think you could use it on a 2stroke?

Even if you could it would be better just to clean the carbs yourself , doesnt take 2 mins

Okay, thanks for the replies.

I was just thinking, does adding redex to the petrol have the same effect as cleaning the carbs by hand or does it have less of an effect?

I thought the redex also gets ditributed into the engine (combustion chamber) and cleans that too?

From experience, I like cleaning the carb myself. It's an easy job and you can actually see how bad carbs look after a while of hard driving. Check www.dansmc.com , this site I recall has a guide to cleaning your carb, that is if you're not familiar with it Wink

You're right, it does help to clean the engine too. I suppose it's not as effective as cleaning by hand (if done correctly/well,) but you could always pour a bottle into your carbs directly and that should sort it all out quite nice. You can also pour a little into each cylinder through the plug holes. See the back of the bottle for usage in this manner.

Its really intended for 4 strokes, to help clean and lubricate the valves etc, and i dont think, other than helping to clean the carbs, it will do much for a 2 stroke.
