If you add the K&n to a decent pipe and a bit of tewaking you might manage a hp or two |

Hi
Throwing away the airbox and just sticking some tights over the carb inlet is likely to loose you power. One of the most important bits of an air filter is the area of it. By putting a mesh over the carb you are going to restrict it.
Dont think there is a K&N filter replacement for the airbox. You can get the individual filters to replace the airbox. They may give you a bit more power if the airbox is restrictive, will sound deeper, will be a pain if they get wet (such as in the rain or washing the bike) and will require rejetting
All the best

Cheers for the replies guys.
I tried running the bike without the air box and it sounded a lot louder. It pulled much better through the mid range and it wanted to rev well to the redline which it never did before.
Don't think it's a good idea running it without the filter thu.
Might think about getting reed valves and rejetting if I did the filter but not sure if I wanna spend all that money for not much gain.
Anyone know where I could get a filter for it. I can't anywhere that does NSR stuff?! |

Nah, I de-restricted it a while ago, but with the air box on it seems to loose power at about 10 grand.
Without the air box it seems to rev to the redline without losing any power.
Praps I'm being too fussy, after all it is only a screamer with about a half a brake horsepower! |

I did yeah. Took that plate out the carb and drilled that silly small insert in the exhaust out.
I also heard that the proper de-restricted bikes have got a different rear sprocket to give them a faster top speed.
I think I'll stick with the accelration and keep my license thanx! ____________________ Pound of sausages please butcher! |
