How do I strip and re-paint plastics?

Hi,

The tank graphics on the XR600 were looking a bit tired so I decided to take them off (my first mistake), they came off easily but so did the paint work underneath!

So I've decided to strip and re-paint the tank and side plastics:

How do I strip paint off plastic, without damaging the plastic?

Do I have to buy specialised paint/primer for plastic or will good old Halfords paint/primer do the job?

Any 'Do Not Dos' I need to be aware of when painting plastics?

you can do better than painting . i suppose you will be able to buy in shops adhesive platic film (in wide roll) , choose your colour and stick it
the result will be less fragile than paint . think about

Presumably you do plastics the same as you'd do a tank.

Ie some wet+dry and lots of elbow grease. The key to a good finish is always in the preparation. Surely you do not need to remove all the existing paint, as it would form your bottom layer?
