Ive been riding a manual bike for just over 4 months, but im already wanting to take my L plates off, ( btw i ride a NSR125R at the moment ).

My choices are 125restricted or my full test, im edging toward the full test and selling up to maybe get a 400cc, but seen as how ive only been riding for over 4 months im thinkins its probly better to get the restricted instead!

What would you experienced riders suggest?

Stu

so your on about getting a 400 restricted to 33bhp?
theres 2 tests you can take both on a 125 one allows you to ride a 125 with no Ls carry pillion..pointless.
Other you have to be restricted for first 2 years

Do the restricted test and ride your 125 until you feel that you are ready for the step up. It's safer for you, and you get rid of the L's and can take pillion, and when you think the time is right step up to a 33BHP 400/600 etc.

Thumbs Up Karma

The reason im edging toward just goin for the full test is becoz you go through the same procedures for the 125 that you go through for the full. But with all that presure if you pass the 125 then you have to wait 2 years till you can ride anythin.

Money situation will probly nd up making me go for the 125 im thinkin to.

ARGH !! im pretty much arguing with myself here Laughing

You mean you're thinking of taking your Light Motorcycle License (A1)?

If so, I wouldn't bother, the 33BHP restricted license is EXACTLY the same procedure and will enable you to ride bigger bikes, straight away and unrestricted in the future...

Bit of a no brainer that one mate? A1 isn't worth the paper it's printed on Razz

The two tests are pretty much the same, they both cost the same. Don't do the one which limits you to just 125's as you will be kicking yourself when you can afford a bigger bike but instead first have to pay to do another driving test.

Do your 33bhp test and get the 2 year restriction clock ticking. Thumbs Up

Whilst on this subject, is £250 a good price for the Restricted test?that's what I'd be paying, including a weeks hire of a yamaha SR 125, 2 lessons, and the actual test.

Any good?

Jon

Good stuff mate...

If you need books, get the Haynes "Learn to Ride" book, is quite steep but covers EVERYTHING you need to know, including theory... Also you might want to get a Hazard Percep. DVD, as people say that this is a bit of a bastard to do.

You can get both these books in WHSmiths, grab a highway code too if you dont have one Smile
