Almost got it

Only had the bike back since wednesday so first time out practicing really today. Just going for it really Mr. Green

So very close to balance point but got about a foot to go yet I think?

Oh and Jordan (zxr400er) seems to like pressing "stop" half way through my wheelies Rolling Eyes

Maybe I should press stop on his cool knee down footage I'll post later Wink

Listen to my bike, barely any revs.

Bike only blew up last time because I kept hitting rev limitier.

So the ktm will be fine now as long as I don't rev limiter it :p

when i was a lad my step dad had a XT 500 and he could wheelie it everywhere in any situation and i remember it blew up. he told me it's cos the oil pump was on the front of the engine so everytime he wheelied for any decent length the engine would starve of oil. just something to be ware of. Top wheelie though mate. Nick.

Just practice really, not every single wheely of mine is like that, depends really, I'm too caught up trying to scrape my number plate at the minute so not really concentrating on keeping it up for long.. but if you keep it at BP with a smooth throttle then things can get really smooth Smile

Just practice really. I was always told to practice small but smooth wheelies and progress higher/longer but only concentrating on being smooth, seems to have done the trick Mr. Green

You ride wheelies completely different to me, seems you hold the throttle on constant??? I have to pump the throttle in little bursts or the front'll just fall right down, can definitely hit the balance point though, good wheelie Thumbs Up

If you hit balance point then it should be identical to my wheely. Very little/if any throttle input required. Just hold the throttle smooth when the front end feels floaty.

If you're having to blip the throttle to keep it up then you're definetly not at balance point.

Got any video you can post?

Keep up the practice mate Thumbs Up

Just the one I posted in Bonny's topic -

https://media.putfile.com/shortvid32

Definitely the balance point (even if it is only for a few seconds Wink ) But on my next practise I will definitely try holding the throttle on instead of doing bursts, my biggest problem is running out of revs or losing stability and falling sideways!

If the weather is good tomorrow I'll go back to the road and get a different vid goin'!

Honestly, balance point and you won't run out of revs unless you let off the throttle.. you'll wheely a lot longer BUT the wheel tends not to stay completely still, it'll raise/fall a bit to keep it up properly.. I tend to let off the throttle when it goes higher than bp (unless trying.. ) so got to get used to that, still got loads to practice really but getting there.

Your wheelies are lovely and slow but not high enough for BP, usually the forks are pretty much parallel with the ground (depending on speed anyway) you're wheelying really slow (which is cool!) so the BP will be a lot higher than normal.

Sparks have you ever used one of them anti flip device things? I think i could make 1 but i'd need someone to wheelie to set it up. where abouts do you live? ( my highest wheelie is about 2 foot and i feel like i'm going to flip it)

I wouldn't touch a wheely device if you paid me! they are dangerous things and teach you fuck all!

Just practice if you want to be good practice more.. if you do it all the time you will crash, one day.. just accept it and have fun, take it easy and be smooth.

Yeah it holds up pretty well to crash damage, the only problem with wheelying is if a supermoto goes off to the left/right and hits kerb the wheels tend to get fucked as they're spoked.. and they're damn expensive to get re-laced.. but it's not /that/ likely to happen hopefully! Laughing

I can't wait to get a sports 600 for next summer Smile
