I'm a big fan of the ZZR. They are very smart bikes. But I've noticed how similar they are, from the ZZR 250 right up to the ZZR 1200, essentially they all look the same. Come on Kawasaki, where's your imagination? I'm not talking about performance or specifications here, purely looks. They've done better with the new ZZR 1400, which does look more funky, but it's still obviously a ZZR. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it - I think the new 1400 is stunning but I would have thought in this day and age when bike manufacturers are in competition that maybe they could have broken the mould even more and been a bit more radical with the styling?

This is of course only my personal opinion. What do other ZZR fans/owners think? Do you think "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and that Kawasaki are right to play safe and go with traditional ZZR styling across the range, or make the higher cc ZZRs look a bit different which will set them apart from the rest?

It's the rather odd flush indicators that get me. Other than those, I think they look rather nice, and have a seating position which just 'fits'. Thumbs Up

In the states they have replaced the zzr600 with what is effectively a zx6r J series. We've still got the old zzr600 and it looks likely to stay for 2006 aswell Thumbs Down

I had the ZZR250, I wish i still had it. A parrel twin at 16,000 rpm Cool!

I like the way they are, I'm loving the new 1400. To be fair the ZZR isn't about looks as much as an R6, it's more about useability.

The snag is that most of the J1,J2 bikes are getting on for age/milage by now. Granted you may be able to pick up a bargain but it won't be easy.

Most sports bikes are getting smaller and smaller which is going hand in hand with people starting to put off buying the latest model as they can't fit it on it or don't like the lack of wind protection. There is a market over here for the zzr600/zx6r so why Kawasaki haven't introduced it over here is anyone's guess. I suspect however it is due to the increasingly restrictive euro emissions laws Thumbs Down

Thing is the US and the UK differ in terms of markets.

The US has that style ZZR600 as its considered more of a sports bike over there, and over here its a Sports tourer.

If Kawasaki brought out that style ZZR over here they'd loose alot of money.

Personally I love the look of the ZZR600, its very simplisitic none of these stupid bug eyed headlights.

Its a no nonsense sports tourer and as the saying goes if its still selling well after 12 years in its current guise then don't fucking mess with it! Razz

I don't see why they would, there would be no need for R&D and the patterns are already there so manufacturing them would be easy.

Also there is there any reason why they couldn't sell it alongside the current zzr600?

My zx6r j1 is still immaculate, at 5years old and 8700miles on the clock. It's also going to have a new Akrapovic Ti can, dynojet kit, k&n, and ignition advancer fitted, and set up soon, it's got brand new Pirelli Diablo Corsa's, NWS carbon hugger, dark tinted screen, (not yet fitted) and 8months MOT. Im also going to sell it soon, for around £3k ono.

It's just wrong for Kawasaki USA to call a J-series ZX6 a ZZR WTF?

As for the others, yeah they all look kinda the same, but the new 1400 looks kind of nice and comfy for a 180bhp+ bike. It's no more ugly than a Busa, and it's not trying to be an overgrown sports bike/ top speed only chaser, like the 12R.

Id actually prefer an old shape ZX10 though, to any ZZR, as they are a bit lighter, and i like the silver e-box frame style, and faired in indicators look, it's all nice and Retro in a late 80's kind of way!

Its not as such costs or anything for Kawasaki, its the fact the ZX6-R was never the most comfortable of bikes.
The ZZR is, and always have been very very comfortable, the ZZR sells because of this. Many people buy the ZZR to use as a budget tourer rather than the expanses of chrome or heavier machinery.

If they were to release a ZX6-R based ZZR like in the US, then this budget tourer guise would be lost, plus it'd be too close to Kawasaki's flagship 600 in the UK the 636R.

As I said the US and the UK are two very different markets, and most bikes are considered differently in both, like the ZZR is the UK its a Budget Tourer as I said before, in the US its a budget sports bike.
