have a little look here
https://www.dansmc.com/MC_repaircourse.htm
also if you have got space buy a wreck of a bike for cheap and just tinker with it finding out how its put together and not actually worrying about getting it to work

god!
That was quick, and great!
Nice jump after my lil basics.
I'll do this completely and then .... well, and then what do i do? Suppose i want to have enough knowledge to make my own hybrid engine or my own chopper? Okay, okay, i know i am jumping too far now, but, just to know... For now, this site is pretty much or rather more than enough!
btw., i have got space but not the funds. I live in india, and even near-wreck bikes have a huge market, and is not that cheap to get them..
anyway, thanks again for your reply |

TBH i didnt know shit until i got interested in engines. But even then you can only learn so much by reading. What you want to do is get yourself a small 2-stroke engine, pull it apart and put it back together again. I done it with an old BSA D14, and i consider myself to be quite clued up on how they work (even done the timing myself ).....Now here i come 4 strokes! ____________________ Will work for petrol

The Haynes "Motorcycle Basics" book is pretty good for covering the basic workings of most parts of the motorcycle ____________________ Hard livin', hard luck. |

How stuff works has a great page on the 4-stroke engine. That pretty much explained everything to me, but i've always been into bikes and cars. Just don't try and learn about 6-stroke diesels, far too much hassle...
