Just a few pictures of it now, still not finished yet as I want a belly pan and headlight fairing for her. Also, I still need a left hand side panel as you will see. Apart from that, shes all clean condition wise, very good, although she needs a nice wash, covered in dirt. All that riding on it lol. 220 miles clocked now. Had a few problems along the way, but nothing major.

looks good so far mate! Thumbs Up Will look even better with the missing bits fitted and some new Yamaha RD decals. Did it originally have a red seat and red decals from the factory?

How's it ride anyway? hope you get a sound clip from it, with that Nikon pipe fitted.

Shes running alright at the moment, could run better I guess, was thinking about putting the RamAir back on her as she doesn't feel the same as she did. It ain't ticking over at the moment, and the problem has yet to be found, but I reckon one of the jets, probably the idle jet, is blocked. Shes very quick in the powerband, quite quick up to 70, but only tops out at 75?!?! Even though I have the Nikkon on, it still going slow for some reason. The only thing I can think of is that its been geared for acceleration. So I'm going to look up the standard sprocket sizes, and compare. Apart from that, shes all good, front wheel comes up with little effort. As I said, she still needs a few body parts, when they been put on, she should look fab.

Happy Birthday tatters! Very Happy

Been a while since I posted in here, so I thought I would just let you lot know whats been happening since.

Sorted out that ticking over problem a while ago, I stripped the carb cleaned it all out, put it back and adjusted the mixture and idle screw. Ticked over fine. Since then shes been running sweet. Starts first kick every morning usually. Sometimes it refuses to start, but nothing a good bump can't fix. Thumbs Up

Went through a phase of finding nuts missing off the end of bolts. After riding one night, looked at my end can and it was just about to fall off. Bolts holding it on had vibrated out. Replaced those and put spring washers on the new bolts. Mudguard bolts vibrated themselves out, pot rivited them and been fine also. Hanger bolt vibrated out also, as did the engine bolt nut! Shocked Found out this just in time, as if I had rode another few miles, the engine would have dropped out for sure. Since that scare, most nuts have been replaced with nylock nuts where possible, along with spring washers. Scary stuff huh.

Top speed I have had now is 85, which is still below the claimed top speed of a full power one, but she makes up for a lack of top end by being ridiculously quick. I had a drag race with my mates RS125 and RG125, both de-restricted. I mangaged to stay ahead of them both to 60mph. Sounds good to me! Had the front wheel up a stupid amount of times, and nearly flipped it on 2 occasions! Gotta be more careful really. The brakes are awful on it, but I have learnt how to stop a bit quicker really. They are good enough, just not good for emergency stops. All part of the fun I say though.

Just started filling in the tyres with a tyre pen, and its looking good so far. I hope to order a belly pan and headlight fairing next week as well. Shes going to look lovely when shes all done. I don't ever want to get rid of her!

Stop with the clip ons already! Razz

I want to keep it as original as I can. Plus, I like straight bars I have at the moment. Although I do need a rev counter needle as mine broke off!

All this reading about project bikes has inspired me. Some guy who lives near me has a P reg Suzuki TS50, which is in a bit of a state, wants £50 for it.

Think I will pay him a visit and take it off his hands.

Oh and bike is looking good compared with what it started with. Think a set of yamaha decals would lok nice on the side of the tank.

Well, I want to keep it white. Original colour scheme as well. Ordering belly pan and headlight fairing this week hopefully. All the panels and tank need another coat of paint as the finish is poor on them. Once got all panels sprayed decent, then I'll fork out for the yamaha decals. Selling price for it then should be mega!

I have been off the RD since the 9th of November! Shocked

The big end in the crank shaft went so I had to send it off to Mick Abbey where it got new big end bearings and a new conrod fitted. Also fitted a new piston to it now, and it should be fired up for the first time since its been off the road tonight! Can't wait, its been such a long time. I spent a while going around it, checking all the bolts are tight, everything connected up etc, and I also gave it a nice wash. Finished off my tyre penning as well! Pics don't bring up the shine it has. Sad
