how good are 600's braking power? lets say.. oh i dunoo the r6's brakes? from 150 how hard can you be on the brakes to get it down to about 30mph without locking the front wheel?

and also does SS fitting really make a difference? they do for myrs125. not sure about bigger bikes.

Owned an r6 the brakes are okay and it all depends on the condition of the tires brakes brake pad road weather etc.

Oh yeah, and to answer the question, yes steel lines will improve oldr brakes generally but it depends on the bike ultimately.

My Thundercat has steel lines and stops superbly well, but the 'cat is known for having good stoppers Confused

Look dude, if you are planning to do 150mph on your R6 then you are going to get the piss ripped a bit.

The thing is, we can't tell you how hard you can brake at 150mph to get to 30 on an R6 for a number of reasons. These are:

Arrow Most of us have never done 150mph on an R6.

Arrow Most of us wouldn't be able to brake from 150mph with the brakes nearly locking but not quite.

Arrow of the tiny percentage of the forum that are left, they don't have newton metres or tourque wrenches in their fingertips...

Arrow It also depends on the road surface, the tyres, the air temperature...

The thing is, the R6's brakes are widely known to be some of the best on a sportsbike. They are also widely known to not be the most ideal brakes with which to learn to ride a big bike (as they are so sharp), so going out and trying to brake from 150mph would be bad mmkay.

Secondly, by saying you wanted to brake to 30 you are implying (however subconsciously) that you wish to do high speeds in 30 limits...

The brakes will be better than your ability to use them. I can guarantee that with 110% certainty.
You are *not* Valentino Rossi

Finally, why say "Say... An R6" when everyone knows you were bleating about putting a deposit down on one over the weekend...

yep it is possible, but to do it quickly you really have to know what you are doing and how to react to the feedback the bike is giving you

The R6's brakes did a good job stopping my FJ1200 so will have no issues stopping an R6.

Yes it is possible, but you need to have an exquisite feel for when a motorcycle front wheel is about to lock.

I have *some* ability to feel this, mainly gleaned from my experience of bikes with shagged crossplies (most of the bikes I owned before the age of 21), however I wouldn't be able to take my TT600 to the limits of braking (or even remotely anywhere near...), and I have been riding for (good grief) six years.

So don't think you'll be outbraking a speed camera from 150 miladdo!

i never said anything about out braking a speed cam, chirst sake all i wanted to know is are the brakes on an r6 good? fuk-ing hell people have made it sound like i've asked the dumbest question on the planet.
