Had a nice spill on Sunday and ended up sliding on my ass at 70mph.

What I can't believe is that I was considering not wearing my full riding gear before i went and just decided to at the last minute.

I was having a bit of fun with an Elise on a country road when we came up to another car. It was clear to overtake and the Elise went and I followed a few car lengths behind. What I didn't bargain for was the lady driver trying to block the Elise from overtaking causing him to brake from 80mph to 40mph on a dime. I tried to match his braking and obviously couldn't so my front wheel swept away from underneath me and I went sliding for a good few yeards.

It annoyed me that with me and my bike summersaulting next to her and coming to a rest in a pile of smoke she didn't even bother to stop. Some people.

I still accept that I was playing the fool by not leaving enough braking distance and will put it down to experience. I am extremely lucky to walk away with whiplash and ripped up leathers and a completely destroyed bike but if I saw someone crash like that I would be stopped and out of my car/bike in an instant to make sure they were ok and call for an ambulance if required.

Very frustrating - but a good lesson :/

Do you reckon you'd have rode as 'hard' without your full leathers on?

Unlucky mate Evil or Very Mad

At least now you'll know for next time. The important thing is to learn from the experience.

My leathers have served me well twice now - won't ever ride without them again.

Also - boots. Never, ever will I wear trainers while riding again.

See my sig to update the Spill Counter Wink

Jeeesus! Did anybody stop at all? Was it the person in front of the elise that didnt stop or the elise driver?

I had a fall a month after getting my bike playing games with a punto on my NSR 125 through a roundabout, never leaned enough and smashed the curb. Was a thrilling experience trying to get up while falling ( felt like superman ). no i slow down for that perticular roundabout Laughing

Stu

Glad your ok Wink

The elise stopped - he was blocked by the woman and didnt have any choice but to brake or risk a head on. Just a stupid avoidable situation.

The R6 is literally destroyed - only had it a month. I always end up having a play when im out on the bike and I think i would have ridden the same without the gear on so I put it on most of the time now!

I had Wolf trousers and an RST top - zipped together to make a 1 piece. My local shop sewed in an extra zip to make them fit together. The trousers were worn through, my jeans undeneath were worn through and my wallet and cards were half worn away! Thank fuck for cows is all I can say Wink

Description added to spill counter Wink

Did the guy in the elise get the woman's reggie plate?

My mate was forced off the road by some stupid soccer mom in a ridiculously huge, gay, multipla thing on friday, bitch didn't even stop. Scratched up his mint VFR a bit, and literally destroyed his Arai.

Cage rage silly season obviously starting..

I had RST leathers when I was bounced off of a van, they worked so well and managed to stop me having any scratches or burns that I will be buying RST gear when I climb back aboard!

RST's, about £300 I think, always fancied some...

Thats tough titties mate. And these folk that don't go out with full leathers eh (awaiting big back lash!! Laughing )

Mines saved my legs a few weeks ago, if it had been dry there would have been more damage no doubt but the rain made me slide easier.

Any damage to you?

Does anyone ever stop?

I got knocked off by a hit-and-run driver once, and couldn't get the bike of me, and all the rush hour traffic just drove around me. Shocked

hmmmm , i myself had a 60/70mph off last week on my R6 too...

was wearing jeans and a leather jacket and SIDI boots ..... all i got apart from impact injuries on my upper body was a small patch of road rash on my left knee...

seems it isnt always about full leathers etc ...

not saying youll always be ok no matter wat gear you wear but i think jeans offer a lot more protection than some people think. . .

I just prefer leather. Jean material just rips too easy and its too airy when your up to speed.

Not got the sexiest legs in the world, but I like them the way they are!

Paid £200 for my 1-piece Frank Thomas and its in great condition for a 40-50 mph off!!!

I like the look of RST's. Cheapest I seen was the Scottish bike show and they where still £200 (still a bargain Confused ). Thats mega cheap guys, they are ace looking.

Here's my FT's after the 1st crash.....

TBH, I was on my feet before the bike stopped sliding (the sound of plastic against tarmac is gut turning!!!!!!) then I felt the pain Embarassed

Bad luck mate, glad your Ok Thumbs Up

I paid about £350 for my zip together RST leathers, they are really comfortable (now they are broken in Laughing ) being 6' 5'' makes it kinda difficult to get leathers to fit properly
